Rodriguez went 2-for-4 in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Brewers.
Rodriguez extended an on-base streak to 13 games with a first-inning single. He's gone 17-for-51 (.333) with four walks, two doubles, five home runs, nine RBI and 10 runs scored during the streak. The left-handed batter was recently moved to the leadoff spot against right-handers and has thrived there in a small sample, slashing .321/.345/.679 in six contests atop the order. As the Reds pivot to focus on 2027, Rodriguez should see ample opportunities to make his case for a roster spot over the final month of the regular season.

Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Cubs.
Rodriguez was the first of four Reds to homer, launching a three-run blast in the fourth inning. The rookie has found his footing of late, going 10-for-27 (.370) with four homers, seven RBI and seven runs over his past seven games. Rodriguez went 3-for-6 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants.
Getting the start in right field and batting leadoff against Logan Webb, Rodriguez took the San Francisco ace deep in the third inning before leading off the ninth with another solo shot off Spencer Bivens that sparked a stunning seven-run rally for the Reds. It was the first time in Rodriguez's brief MLB career that he hit atop the order, and through his first 16 games for Cincy, the 22-year-old is batting .220 (11-for-50) with two doubles, three homers, five RBI and six runs.

This was Rodriguez's third big-league game and first start in center field after he played right field in his debut Tuesday and served as the designated hitter Thursday. The move to center field worked out, as he was tested on a couple of plays. "He did OK," manager Terry Francona told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "That's a big ask [to play center field]. I told him, 'If you mess something up, I'll take it, not you.'" Rodriguez, who belted 27 home runs with an .880 OPS in the minors this season, potentially gives the Reds more offense than Dane Myers in center.

Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday and made his MLB debut. The Reds recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
After being added to the Reds' 40-man roster over the winter, Rodriguez has continued to impress with his slugging at Louisville this season. The 22-year-old has slashed .274/.347/.533 with 27 home runs -- second in the International League -- and six stolen bases across 104 games at Triple-A. With the Reds dealing away Nathaniel Lowe prior to Monday's deadline, the team has an opening in its everyday lineup, and the left-handed-hitting Rodriguez appears primed to get a look in the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter or at either corner-outfield spot.

Rodriguez spent time with Double-A Chattanooga (82 games) and Triple-A Louisville (53) in 2025 before earning a promotion to the Reds' 40-man roster during the offseason. He slashed .298/.357/.481 with 12 home runs in Double A and .260/.304/.405 with seven homers in his introduction to Triple A. While onlookers are impressed by Rodriguez's ability to hit anything thrown at him, they also feel he needs to be more selective. The soon-to-be 22-year-old outfielder also played offseason ball in the Dominican Winter League, where he slashed .301/.375/.504 with four homers across 128 plate appearances and walked as many times as he struck out (13).

Reds' Hector Rodriguez: Added to 40-man roster
The Reds selected Rodriguez's contract from Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Acquired in a rather inconspicuous trade with the Mets in 2022, Rodriguez has emerged as a legitimate major-league prospect thanks largely to his hitting ability. He advanced to the Triple-A level this past season, and while most of his numbers fell off compared to what he was doing at Double-A Chattanooga, he still hit seven homers and stole nine bags in 53 games with Louisville. Now protected from the Rule 5 Draft, Rodriguez will have a chance to debut late in 2026.

Reds' Hector Rodriguez: Strong age-21 season
Rodriguez is slashing .283/.331/.447 with five home runs, six steals, a 6.1 percent walk rate and a 15.3 percent strikeout rate in 36 games for Triple-A Louisville.
Rodriguez was promoted to Louisville on July 18 after he slashed .298/.357/.481 with 12 home runs, six steals and a 13.9 percent strikeout rate in 82 games for Double-A Chattanooga. A bat-first player who will likely end up in left field or at designated hitter, Rodriguez will have a high offensive bar to clear, but he has premium bat speed and contact ability. He is a very aggressive hitter (58.8 percent swing rate at Triple-A) who is still working on getting the ball in the air a bit more (flyball rates below 30 percent at Double-A and Triple-A). Still, Rodriguez won't turn 22 until March, so he's ahead of schedule. He will be added to the 40-man roster this offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

Rodriguez is hitting .299/.366/.429 for High-A Dayton, leading the team in hitting for average after turning 20 in March, Dave Clark of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Rodriguez came over to the Reds' organization at the 2022 trade deadline for Tyler Naquin and is more than holding his own despite being one of the younger players in the league. His power has dropped off some, albeit in a tough hitters' park, but he's displayed a great grasp of the strike zone, striking out only 10.1 percent so far this season.
