  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Sent to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Nastrini to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

The right-hander worked as a bulk reliever Monday against the Guardians and delivered his best outing of the campaign with 3.1 scoreless innings, but he'll still lose his place on the MLB roster. Nastrini hasn't been effective in his nine big-league appearances (eight starts) this season and has a 7.07 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 26:36 K:BB in 35.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Set to pitch Monday in bullpen day

Interim manager Grady Sizemore said Saturday that Nastrini will be available in relief Monday in what's expected to be a bullpen day in the White Sox's series opener versus the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Sizemore hasn't officially pulled the plug on Nastrini as the fifth member of the rotation, but the rookie right-hander will look to turn in better results in relief after posting a 7.79 ERA and 24:32 K:BB in 32.1 innings through his first eight big-league starts. Jared Shuster is slated to open the contest and has worked at least four innings over four of his 37 appearances this season between the majors and Triple-A, so Nastrini could end up piggybacking Shuster rather than serving as a true bulk reliever Monday.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Falls to 0-7

Nastrini (0-7) took the loss Tuesday against the Orioles, allowing seven runs (four earned) on four hits and six walks over 1.2 innings. He struck out two.

After allowing just two runs over his last two starts (10.1 innings), Nastrini fell back to earth in Baltimore in an ugly outing. Command continues to be an issue for the rookie right-hander -- Nastrini's now carrying an 8.9 BB/9 through his first 32.1 innings. Overall, his ERA is up to 7.79 with a 1.95 WHIP and 24:32 K:BB through eight starts with the White Sox. If Chicago elects to give Nastrini another turn in the rotation, he'll line up for a home matchup early next week against the Guardians.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Getting another start Tuesday

Nastrini is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Orioles at Camden Yards, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Unsurprisingly, Nastrini will be handed a second turn through the White Sox rotation after he delivered his first career quality start Thursday against the Rangers following his promotion from Triple-A Charlotte. Though he limited Texas to just one run over six innings in a losing effort, Nastrini's overall numbers through seven starts in the big leagues this season (7.04 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 22:26 K:BB in 30.2 innings) don't inspire much confidence in his fantasy prospects moving forward.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Tosses first career quality start

Nastrini (0-6) allowed one run on three hits and a walk over six innings Thursday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Rangers.

Nastrini had the best start of his young career Thursday but still came away with a hard-luck loss against the Rangers. Nastrini pitched six innings for the first time this season, but he now has six losses in seven career starts. The 24-year-old has allowed three hits or less in five of his seven starts but has struggled with his control. Nastrini had more walks than innings pitched coming into Thursday's game, and the single walk Thursday was the first time he hasn't issued multiple free passes.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Called up ahead of start

The White Sox recalled Nastrini from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of his scheduled start Thursday against the Rangers in Chicago.

Nastrini will make his first appearance for the big club since June 8 after he submitted a 4.89 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 54:35 K:BB across 49.2 innings since returning to Charlotte. The right-hander's numbers were even worse over his six starts with the White Sox earlier this season (8.39 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and 25:19 K:BB in 24.2 innings), rendering Nastrini an unreliable streaming option as he rejoins the White Sox. Nastrini will be entering the White Sox rotation as a replacement for Ky Bush, who was optioned to Triple-A earlier this week.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Joining MLB rotation Thursday

The White Sox will recall Nastrini from Triple-A Charlotte to start Thursday's game against the Rangers, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Through six starts in the majors, Nastrini has accrued a gaudy 8.39 ERA and 1.99 WHIP across 24.2 innings. He's posted better numbers since being sent back to the minors in early June (4.89 ERA, 1.63 WHIP through 49.2 frames) and will be facing a Rangers offense that has turned in a .602 OPS over their last 10 games, but the 24-year-old righty should still be considered a risky streaming option based on his poor MLB resume.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Sent to Triple-A

Nastrini was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

Nastrini has struggled in his six starts in the majors this season, posting an 0-5 record with an 8.39 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and 19:25 K:BB over 24.2 innings. The White Sox called up lefty reliever Sammy Peralta from Charlotte in a corresponding move, but it's not immediately clear whom the big club may turn to as a replacement in the rotation for Nastrini.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Falls short of first win

Nastrini came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Red Sox, allowing one run on two hits and five walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.

He got lifted after 87 pitches (42 strikes) following a Bobby Dalbec homer in the top of the fifth inning that gave Boston a 1-0 lead, preventing Nastrini from recording his first big-league win when Chicago erupted for five runs in the bottom of the frame. Control remains a significant issue for the rookie right-hander, and he's walked at least four batters in three of four starts since his late-May promotion. The rebuilding White Sox seem inclined to live with his growing pains, so Nastrini will carry an 8.39 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and 19:25 K:BB through 24.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Seattle.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Falls to 0-5

Nastrini (0-5) allowed four runs on three hits and three walks over four innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against the Brewers.

Nastrini gave up all four runs during an ugly second inning, capped off by Jackson Chourio's three-run shot. Nastrini has fallen to 0-5 through five starts while registering an unsightly 9.74 ERA across 20.1 frames. On top of that, he's registered a 14:20 K:BB. It's unclear how many more chances Nastrini will get before being sent back to Triple-A Charlotte, but for now, his next start is projected to be at home against Boston.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Walks four more batters

Nastrini (0-4) took the loss Monday against Toronto, allowing three earned runs on three hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out five.

The 24-year-old struggled with his control yet again, walking four or more batters for the third consecutive start. The right-hander has been erratic all season, compiling a dismal 13:17 K:BB across four starts. Nastrini was serviceable in this one, but he won't find consistent success in the majors until he cleans up his control. He now owns a 9.92 ERA and 2.20 WHIP in 16.1 innings.

  • White Sox's Nick Nastrini: Sticking around in rotation

Nastrini is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Blue Jays in Chicago, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

He'll be getting a second straight turn through the rotation -- and a second straight matchup with the Blue Jays -- despite giving up nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits and six walks over 3.1 innings upon being called up from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of last Wednesday's game in Toronto. Nastrini has shown the ability to make bats miss at a high clip at every stop of the minor-league ladder, but he's often struggled with his control. Walks have been an even greater concern for Nastrini through his first three big-league outings, as he's already issued 13 free passes in just 11.1 innings.
