Giants' Jesus Rodriguez: Cracks homer in spring win
Rodriguez started at designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-5 Cactus League win over the Cubs.
Rodriguez drove a solo homer to left field in the sixth inning, bringing the Giants within one run. He later singled and stole second in the seventh. The 23-year-old catcher, who was acquired by San Francisco in a deal with the Yankees in July, is unlikely to make the Opening Day roster but could be a candidate for a call-up at some point during the regular season. Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, manager Tony Vitello called him "Mr. Versatile" and added that Rodriguez will get a start at second base soon. While the majority of his time in the minors has been spent behind the plate and at DH, he also has experience playing third base.

Yankees' Jesus Rodriguez: Going to San Francisco
Rodriguez was traded from the Yankees to the Giants on Thursday along with Parks Harber and Trystan Vrieling in exchange for Camilo Doval, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Rodriguez is essentially a big-league ready catching option, albeit one with limited power and a slight frame. The 5-foot-10 Rodriguez is slashing .317/.409/.430 with five home runs, 16 steals, a 12.7 percent walk rate and a 15.2 percent strikeout rate in 78 games at Triple-A. His speed and hit tool could make him useful in deeper leagues, especially if he finds his way into a large role, although that doesn't seem likely barring a Patrick Bailey injury. Rodriguez is also capable of playing third base and has started 19 games there this year at Triple-A.

Yankees' Jesus Rodriguez: Strong showing at Triple-A
Rodriguez is slashing .347/.438/.438 with one home run, nine steals and a 14.8 percent strikeout rate in 46 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Rodriguez, 23, doesn't have big power, but he has a rare combination of a strong hit tool and notable speed for a surefire catching prospect. He is on the 40-man roster, so if Austin Wells were to get injured, Rodriguez could find himself splitting time with J.C. Escarra behind the dish.

Yankees' Jesus Rodriguez: Sent to Double-A
The Yankees optioned Rodriguez to Double-A Somerset on Sunday.
Rodriguez was in big-league camp after being added to the 40-man roster in November, which protected him from being selected during the Rule 5 Draft. He'll return to Somerset, where he received a late-season promotion last year and had a .695 OPS in 23 games.

Yankees' Jesus Rodriguez: Nabs 40-man spot
The Yankees selected Rodriguez to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
Rodriguez split time last season between High-A and Double-A ball, turning in a .302/.375/.481 slash line between the two levels. Now that he's on the 40-man roster, he won't have to worry about being picked up by another organization in the Rule 5 Draft, but the 22-year-old backstop is likely to begin the 2025 campaign with Double-A Somerset.
