Fantasy News

  • Giants' Jesus Rodriguez: Playing second fiddle to Susac

Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Rodriguez finds himself on the bench for the fourth day in a row and looks as though he'll have to settle for a part-time role following Daniel Susac's recent return from the injured list. The Giants were able to temporarily open up steady playing time for Rodriguez after Patrick Bailey was dealt to the Guardians on May 9, but Rodriguez has taken himself out of the mix for regular starts by going just 1-for-19 at the plate following that trade.

  • Giants' Jesus Rodriguez: Recalled, starting Monday

The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento, and he will start at catcher while batting eighth against the Padres on Monday. Rodriguez, Bryce Eldridge and Trevor McDonald have all been called up to the majors by the Giants ahead of the start of the team's six-game homestand. Rodriguez has been productive at the plate in Triple-A, where he is slashing .330/.400/.430 with four steals, two home runs and 14 RBI across 115 plate appearances in 30 games with Sacramento. He'll likely serve as the Giants' No. 2 catcher behind Patrick Bailey while Daniel Susac (elbow) is on the 10-day IL. Now that he's in the lineup, Monday will officially be Rodriguez's debut in the majors.

  • Yankees' Jesus Rodriguez: Strong showing at Triple-A

Rodriguez is slashing .347/.438/.438 with one home run, nine steals and a 14.8 percent strikeout rate in 46 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rodriguez, 23, doesn't have big power, but he has a rare combination of a strong hit tool and notable speed for a surefire catching prospect. He is on the 40-man roster, so if Austin Wells were to get injured, Rodriguez could find himself splitting time with J.C. Escarra behind the dish.

  • Yankees' Jesus Rodriguez: Nabs 40-man spot

The Yankees selected Rodriguez to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Rodriguez split time last season between High-A and Double-A ball, turning in a .302/.375/.481 slash line between the two levels. Now that he's on the 40-man roster, he won't have to worry about being picked up by another organization in the Rule 5 Draft, but the 22-year-old backstop is likely to begin the 2025 campaign with Double-A Somerset.
