Giants' Jesus Rodriguez: Moves to 60-day IL
The Giants transferred Rodriguez (elbow) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The 24-year-old was placed on the IL at the start of August due to right elbow neuritis, and he recently suffered a setback after starting up a minor-league rehab assignment. Rodriguez won't be eligible to be reinstated until after the end of the regular season, so his 2026 campaign can safely be considered finished since San Francisco is 25 games under. 500. He played in 22 games in his first taste of the majors and posted a .235/.316/.412 slash line with two home runs and one steal in 58 plate appearances.

Rodriguez said Thursday that he's suffered a setback with his elbow neuritis, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Rodriguez began a rehab assignment at Triple-A on Sunday, but the Giants paused his assignment after one game due to the setback. The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
He'll be up in the big leagues for the second time this season, joining the Giants' active roster as a replacement for outfielder Jonah Cox (oblique), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Between his time in the majors and minors this season, Rodriguez as seen action at catcher, second base, third base, left field and right field, so he'll provide the Giants with some versatility off the bench. Though Rodriguez fared respectably as a hitter with a .687 OPS in 43 plate appearances during his stint in the majors earlier in 2026, he's not regarded as anything more than an adequate defender behind the plate. As such, it's unclear if the Giants intend to give Rodriguez an extended look at catcher over the likes of Drew Cavanaugh and Eric Haase while Daniel Susac (back) is on the shelf.

The Giants optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A following Sunday's game against the Rockies, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Rodriguez has provided depth at catcher and in the outfield since being recalled from Sacramento in early May, and in 14 major-league games, he went 9-for-39 (.231 average) with one steal, two home runs and seven RBI. Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the Padres.
Rodriguez has started each of the last two games behind the dish. He went 0-for-3 in his debut Monday, but he didn't have to wait long for his first big-league homer, taking Jeremiah Estrada deep in the seventh inning. Rodriguez is known to have a good eye at the plate and steady contact skills, but that comes with just modest power. The Giants also have Patrick Bailey and Eric Haase on the big-league roster, as well as Daniel Susac (elbow) on the injured list, so the playing-time battle behind the dish may just be heating up. Of the group, Rodriguez likely has the most promising long-term bat, but his defense could initially limit his opportunities. The Giants have a fairly crowded infield, but Rodriguez displayed versatility in the minor leagues, seeing time at first base, second base, third base and left field, which could give him more avenues to playing time in the majors.
