  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Stuck with loss in quality start

Luzardo (3-4) took the loss Tuesday as the Phillies fell 4-1 to the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The southpaw tossed 95 pitches (58 strikes) en route to his second straight quality start and his fifth of the year in 10 trips to the mound, but Luzardo got little run support with Chase Burns pitching just a little bit better opposite him. After a rough start to the season, Luzardo has a 2.73 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB over his last 33 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column for the first time since May 3 in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week in San Diego.

  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Fires six scoreless in no-decision

Luzardo did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Red Sox, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out four over six scoreless innings.

Luzardo turned in one of his sharper outings of the season, throwing 59 of 92 pitches for strikes while matching former teammate Ranger Suarez in a pitchers' duel that featured five-plus scoreless innings from both sides. Although Luzardo recorded only four strikeouts Thursday, the left-hander still owns an impressive 30 percent strikeout rate through nine starts this season. He has now logged three quality starts in his last four outings and owns a 5.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 61:13 K:BB across 49.1 innings.

  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Melts down again Friday

Luzardo didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on six hits and three walks over three-plus innings. He struck out six.

The volatile southpaw got tagged for one run in the first inning but seemed to steady the ship until the fourth, when the first seven Colorado batters reached base before Luzardo mercifully got the hook after 95 pitches (59 strikes). It's the third time in eight starts this season he's failed to last five innings, and the fourth time he's coughed up five or more runs, leaving him with a 5.98 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 43.2 frames despite a seemingly elite 57:12 K:BB. Luzardo will try to regain his form in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Boston.

  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Dominates in third win

Luzardo (3-3) earned the win Sunday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out 10.

The hard-throwing left-hander worked aggressively Sunday, tallying double-digit strikeouts for the second time this year while throwing 66 of his 102 pitches for strikes. Although the eight hits allowed were his second most of the year, Luzardo also registered an impressive 16 whiffs on the afternoon. He's been inconsistent overall in 2026, as evidenced by a 5.09 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 40.2 frames, but Luzardo is set to carry a stellar 51:9 K:BB into a favorable home matchup versus the Rockies his next time out.

  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Eight punchouts in scoreless outing

Luzardo (2-3) earned the win against the Giants on Tuesday, allowing two hits while striking out eight across seven scoreless innings. He did not issue a walk.

It was a dominant effort from Luzardo, with Tuesday's start highlighted by four consecutive strikeouts from the third to fourth innings before the lefty retired the last 11 batters he faced. This marked the third time in six starts that Luzardo gave up one run or zero, but he has also yielded five runs or more in those other three starts and sits at a 5.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB across 34.1 innings this season. Luzardo's next start is lined up for this weekend against the Marlins in Miami.

  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Limits damage against Cubs

Luzardo did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing one run on five hits and four walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings.

Coming off a rough stretch in which he allowed a combined 13 earned runs over his last two starts, Luzardo showed some improvement Tuesday despite pitching through consistent traffic. He allowed a runner to reach third base in multiple innings, but the only damage came in the fifth after a leadoff walk and single forced him out, with an inherited runner eventually scoring. While the left-hander was able to limit runs, his command remained inconsistent, as he issued a season-high four walks and allowed five hits for the fifth straight start. Luzardo owns a 6.91 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB across 27.1 innings but he should receive a chance to improve his numbers with his next scheduled outing set against a weak San Francisco lineup.

  • Phillies' Jesus Luzardo: Shelled again in loss

Luzardo (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and one walk while striking out four over 5.1 innings.

Luzardo was prone to big innings once again, as after two scoreless frames to begin the game in which Chicago managed only one hit, the Cubs posted a three-spot in the third and then chased the the left-hander from the contest with four runs in the sixth. Luzardo's performance Wednesday continued a troubling early-season trend, as he has now allowed five or more earned runs in three of his first four starts, ballooning his ERA to 7.94 through 22.2 innings despite a 30:5 K:BB. While there's still plenty of time for Luzardo to turn things around, it's been a concerning start after Philadelphia committed to him long term with a five-year, $135 million extension this spring.
