  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Could resume hitting this week

Baldwin (wrist) could resume on-field hitting this week but is unsure he'll make it back before the end of the season, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. The right wrist sprain that sent Baldwin to the 10-day injured list earlier this month has improved, but he might run out of time before he's ready to return to the White Sox's active roster. The rookie infielder has slashed .211/.250/.316 in 33 games for Chicago this season.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Lands on IL

The White Sox placed Baldwin on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right wrist sprain, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. A hand injury kept Baldwin sidelined for seven consecutive games before he entered Tuesday's game off the bench, though he'll now need to miss at least another 10 days after injuring his wrist. Lenyn Sosa will presumably continue to see regular starts while Baldwin is out, and Bryan Ramos will come up from Triple-A Charlotte to replenish Chicago's infield depth.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Absence continuing Tuesday

Baldwin (hand) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles. Baldwin hasn't seen the field since Aug. 27 due to a right hand injury, and he's absent from the starting nine once again Tuesday. It's unclear when the 24-year-old will return to the lineup, but the lack of IL move indicates he should still be considered day-to-day.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Out again Monday

Baldwin (hand) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest in Baltimore. Baldwin hasn't played in nearly a week while battling a right hand injury. The hope is that he'll be ready to go Tuesday, but it's not a given he's back in the lineup. Jacob Amaya and Nicky Lopez will form the White Sox's double-play combination Monday.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Nursing hand injury

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets while tending to a right hand injury, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. "Probably take it slow," interim manager Grady Sizemore said in regard to Baldwin's recovery from the injury. "We are going to see how batting practice goes, and I think he's going to have probably just down at least [Sunday and Monday] and see how he's doing Tuesday." The injury helps explain why Baldwin will be on the bench Sunday for a fifth consecutive game after he had previously handled a near-everyday role in the White Sox middle infield following his call-up from Triple-A Charlotte on July 19. The White Sox should have steady playing time available in the infield for Nicky Lopez, Miguel Vargas and Lenyn Sosa while Baldwin is tending to the injury.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Out of Sunday's lineup

Baldwin is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. Baldwin started the past five games but will sit Sunday after going 3-for-16 during that stretch. Lenyn Sosa will move to the keystone while Miguel Vargas receives a start at third base.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Not in lineup

Baldwin is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Astros. Baldwin will begin Sunday's contest on the bench after going 0-for-6 with one walk and two strikeouts over the first two games of the series. Nicky Lopez and Lenyn Sosa will start at shortstop and second base, respectively, against Houston southpaw Framber Valdez.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Stacking positive results

Baldwin went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI on Sunday against the Twins. Baldwin slugged his first career home run Saturday and followed that up with his second multi-hit game since being recalled July 19. He's also moved up to second in the order as the White Sox attempt to find long-term pieces to their lineup, hitting in between Miguel Vargas and Luis Robert.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Swats first career homer

Baldwin went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Twins. Baldwin temporarily tied the score at 2-2 in the sixth inning with a solo shot off Bailey Ober. The long ball was his first as a major leaguer in his 14th career game. Baldwin shouldn't be expected to hit for much power -- he went deep a modest eight times in 82 games in the minors this season prior to his mid-July call-up -- but he batted .324 and swiped 17 bases during that span, so there's certainly potential for him to be a useful fantasy producer. However, he's struggled against major-league pitchers thus far with a .167/.200/.313 slash line through 50 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Notches second steal

Baldwin went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Mariners. Baldwin earned the first multi-hit effort of his big-league career, and all three of his doubles in the majors have come over the last two games. He also picked up his second steal. Baldwin is still hitting just .207 over nine contests, but the White Sox appear committed to giving him a long look at second base in the second half. His speed is his best asset, but that won't shine through until he gets on base more consistently.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Set to receive promotion

The White Sox will call up Baldwin from Triple-A Charlotte prior to Friday's game in Kansas City, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Baldwin, who turns 24 next month, has slashed .324/.391/.460 with eight home runs and 17 stolen bases between Double-A Birmingham and Charlotte this season. The switch-hitter has mostly played shortstop this season, but he also has plenty of experience at second and third base in addition to the outfield. Baldwin should see regular at-bats in the infield for the White Sox, perhaps bouncing around between multiple positions.

  • White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Advances to Triple-A

The White Sox promoted Baldwin from Double-A Birmingham to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday. Baldwin, a 23-year-old shortstop, has gotten off to a hot start through his first two games with Charlotte, going 4-for-7 with a solo home run and a walk. The switch hitter earned his way to Triple-A after slashing .322/.386/.441 with six home runs and 16 stolen bases over 74 games with Birmingham.
