Ryan (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery Aug. 25, per MLB.com.
Ryan suffered a UCL strain in a start against Pittsburgh on Aug. 11. The right-hander has a small chance of returning to action late in 2025, but he'll more likely need to wait until 2026 to toe a major-league mound again.
Ryan (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.
It's already been determined that Ryan will miss the remainder of this season and likely most if not all of 2025 while on the mend from Tommy John surgery, so this move is simply to open up a spot on the 40-man roster following the return of Max Muncy (oblique) from the 60-day IL.

The 25-year-old suffered a torn UCL in his forearm during Saturday's start against the Pirates and will miss the rest of the season, and likely all of 2025. Ryan received his first taste of the majors this summer and posted a 1.33 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB across 20.1 innings. It's unclear when exactly he'll undergo the procedure, but he likely won't be back to full strength until spring training in 2026.

The next steps are still to be determined for Ryan, but given the nature of his injury, surgery could be on the table for the young right-hander. The Dodgers' training staff met Ryan on the mound in the middle of an at-bat in the fifth inning, and Ryan was ultimately removed from the contest due to pain in his right forearm. The 25-year-old threw 4.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts and four hits allowed before exiting. Ryan should undergo further testing in the coming days, at which point the severity of the injury should be more clear.
