  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Rescues team for first save

Garcia earned the save against the Cardinals on Tuesday, striking out the only batter he faced in the ninth inning. Tuesday's matchup was mostly a pitchers' duel, as neither team scored through eight innings. Arizona finally broke out for a four-run ninth, and then turned the ball over to closer Paul Sewald. However, the veteran reliever couldn't get the job done, as he got just two outs while allowing three runs on four hits. With star rookie JJ Wetherholt coming up for the Cardinals and the tying run on first base, Arizona manager Torey Luvollo turned to Garcia to get the final out. He was able to do by striking out Wetherholt on four pitches, in the process recording the first save of his career. Garcia has been effective this season with a 2.50 ERA and 19:5 K:BB through 18 innings, but Sewald has a firm hold on the team's closer role despite his struggles Tuesday.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Summoned from minors

The Diamondbacks recalled Garcia from Triple-A Reno on Friday. Garcia earned the promotion after holding a 2.19 ERA and 18:10 K:BB over 12.1 innings with Reno. The hard-throwing southpaw will likely be used in low-leverage relief situations initially.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Opening 2026 at Triple-A

Arizona optioned Garcia to Triple-A Reno on Monday. With the move now official, the Diamondbacks will begin the 2026 campaign without a lefty in their bullpen. Garcia struggled to find the strike zone during his spring training appearances, as shown by seven walks in 6.1 innings. He'll need to shift his focus to pounding the zone at Triple-A if he wants to earn a place on the big-league roster.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Overcomes illness

Garcia (illness) struck out three batters over two perfect innings in his last two Cactus League appearances Wednesday and Saturday. During his second appearance of the spring Feb. 28, Garcia was lifted early after falling ill, but he needed just a few days to move past the issue. The 25-year-old lefty has allowed just two total baserunners over three innings this spring, putting him in good shape to break camp as a member of the Diamondbacks' Opening Day bullpen.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Battling illness

Garcia was taken out of Saturday's Cactus League game against the Angels due to an illness, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Garcia had diminished velocity and poor command over his pitches Saturday, but his performance turned out to be a symptom of illness rather than a physical injury. He'll take the time he needs to recover and should be back pitching in the Cactus League relatively soon.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Back in majors

The Diamondbacks recalled Garcia from Triple-A Reno on Friday. Garcia has given up five runs (four earned) over just 3.1 innings in the majors this season, but he owns a 3.27 ERA at Triple-A Reno since being sent down at the beginning of the month. He'll now return to the D-backs' bullpen to provide the team with a fresh arm, replacing Taylor Rashi.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Returns to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks optioned Garcia to Triple-A Reno on Friday. The left-hander was called up by Arizona in late June after being acquired from Seattle in the Josh Naylor trade, and Garcia will head to Reno after giving up three runs over 1.1 frames in two appearances with the Diamondbacks. Garcia could receive another look in the big leagues down the stretch but will return to Triple-A for now.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Recalled from Triple-A

The Diamondbacks recalled Garcia from Triple-A Reno on Saturday. Just two days after being traded from Seattle to Arizona, Garcia will join the big-league bullpen to replace Trevor Richards, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Garcia has turned in a 3.51 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 33.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season, and he's given up one run over two innings so far in his MLB career.

  • Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Headed to Arizona

The Mariners traded Garcia and Ashton Izzi to the Diamondbacks on Thursday in exchange for Josh Naylor, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The Diamondbacks are expected to prioritize pitching while they sell their pieces at the deadline, and they'll bolster their bullpen depth by picking up Garcia. The 25-year-old southpaw made his MLB debut Monday against the Brewers and has given up one run in two innings since then. He was optioned back to Triple-A by Seattle shortly before being traded, though it's unclear if he'll return to the bigs upon joining his new organization. Garcia had been a starter prior to this season, and he has a couple plus pitches in his fastball and slider, so it's possible Arizona will look to stretch him back out at some point.
