Culpepper was removed from Saturday's game against the Guardians after getting hit on the back by a pitch, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Culpepper was taken out of the game immediately after taking a 95-mph fastball off his upper back in the third inning. He was diagnosed with a shoulder contusion after X-rays came back negative following his removal, per Audra Martin of Twins.tv, though Ryan Kreidler could still benefit from an uptick in at-bats if Culpepper sits out a day or two beyond Saturday.

Culpepper went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Athletics.
Culpepper has hit safely in five straight games, going 8-for-19 (.421) with two homers and four RBI in that span. Culpepper will take over at shortstop for the Twins moving forward after slashing .271/.367/.478 with 14 homers, 46 RBI, 63 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a 39:64 BB:K across 343 plate appearances with St. Paul this season. Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Culpepper (hand) from the 7-day injured list Friday.
Culpepper has appeared in just two games for St. Paul since June 28 due to a glute strain and a hand injury. He's progressed enough in his recovery from the latter issue to return to action at Triple-A, where he's slashing .272/.376/.492 with 15 steals and 14 home runs across 295 plate appearances.

Triple-A St. Paul placed Culpepper (hand) on the 7-day injured list Tuesday with a glute injury, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.
The 23-year-old hasn't seen the field for St. Paul since last week after being hit by a pitch on the hand, but his move to the injured list is actually due to an aggravation of the glute injury he initially sustained in mid-June. It's unclear how long Culpepper is expected to be sidelined this time around, but it's likely to be longer than the 7-day minimum given that it's a recurrence of a prior injury.
