Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Productive in Tuesday's win
Keys went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Giants.
With George Springer still out of the lineup, Keys made his sixth straight start and put together a strong effort. The rookie has gone 5-for-21 (.238) to begin July with a homer, four runs and five RBI in those six games, but a shaky 38.1 percent strikeout rate. Springer could be back in action as soon as Wednesday, which would leave Keys without a clear path to regular playing time.

Keys will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Keys will collect his fifth start in a row after going 3-for-15 with a home run, a double and three RBI over the previous four contests. His run as an everyday player could end soon, however. The Blue Jays could get George Springer (personal) back from the family medical emergency list as soon as Monday, and Keys is likely to fade into a bench role or return to Triple-A Buffalo at that point.

Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Belts first career homer
Keys went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Mets.
Getting the start at DH and batting eighth, Keys gave Toronto a 5-0 lead in the third inning on Canada Day when he took Freddy Peralta deep. It was Keys' first career homer in his third MLB game, but just his second hit in 12 at-bats against five strikeouts. The 23-year-old has a path to sticking around on the big-league roster longer than expected with Addison Barger (back/elbow) struggling to get healthy and not expected back until well after the All-Star break, but Keys will need to make more consistent contact to take advantage of the opportunity.

Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Collects hit in MLB debut
Keys went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Rangers.
Making his big-league debut at first base while Vladimir Guerrero got a partial breather as the DH and George Springer prepared for a potential stint on the paternity list, Keys collected his first career hit in the sixth inning and came around to score as the Blue Jays tried to claw their way back from an early 6-0 deficit. It's not clear how long Keys will remain on the 26-man roster, but the 23-year-old corner infielder could see consistent playing time while he's in the majors after producing a 1.122 OPS and seven homers in his first 18 games for Triple-A Buffalo.

Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Officially promoted
The Blue Jays selected Keys' contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
After slashing .285/.415/.621 with 21 homers, 54 RBI and 56 runs scored in 67 games between Double-A and Triple-A, Keys will join the big club to provide Toronto's offense with an extra jolt of power. He's set to start at first base and bat sixth during his MLB debut Saturday, but with Vladimir Guerrero, Kazuma Okamoto and George Springer (paternity) already established at first base, third base and DH, respectively, it may be difficult for Keys to crack the starting nine consistently. Davis Schneider was optioned to Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Heading to big leagues
The Blue Jays are expected to promote Keys from Triple-A Buffalo ahead of Saturday's game against the Rangers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Keys is with the Blue Jays for the start of the weekend series against Texas, but the move won't be made official until Saturday. Between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Keys has slashed .284/.409/.619 with 21 homers, 54 RBI, 55 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a 39:66 BB:K across 286 plate appearances. A corner infielder by trade, Keys doesn't have a clear path at those positions with Kazuma Okamoto and Vladimir Guerrero manning third base and first base, respectively. George Springer has also seen all of his at-bats at designated hitter this season. However, Toronto seems to want to inject Keys' power into the lineup.

Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Still slugging since promotion
Keys went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old third baseman began the year with a .287/.419/.585 slash line and 14 homers in 49 games for Double-A New Hampshire, and since getting promoted to Buffalo in early June, Keys has kept right on slugging with a .288/.408/.712 line and six long balls in his first 17 games at Triple-A. A fourth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Bucknell, Keys is knocking loudly on the door of the majors, but it's unclear where he might fit this summer on a Blue Jays roster that has Vladimir Guerrero at first base, Kazuma Okamoto at third and George Springer at DH.

Blue Jays' Sean Keys: Flashing power at Double-A
Keys is slashing .351/.461/.757 with nine homers and 21 RBI in 20 games for Double-A New Hampshire.
The 22-year-old third baseman slugged 19 homers in 119 games last season at High-A but struggled to make consistent contact, batting just .217 in 2025. That hasn't been an issue for Keys in 2026, although his 27.0 percent strikeout rate suggests some regression is coming for his batting average. The fourth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft is positioning himself to make a big jump up prospect lists if he continues to produce fireworks at Double-A.
