Player Outlook
Arguably the headliner in the package of prospects the Rays received from Baltimore this offseason for Shane Baz, the 6-foot-3 Michael Forret commands a deep arsenal and reached Double-A for the first time to close 2025. Forret didn't pitch in May due to a back injury and was limited to 74 innings after throwing a career-high 99.2 innings in 2024. He sits in the low-90s with his two fastballs, while his plus curveball and slider are his top two pitches. Forret's changeup isn't far behind, and after logging a 7.4 percent walk rate last year, his future is clearly in the rotation. He should split his age-22 season between Double-A and Triple-A, setting up a 2027 MLB debut.

  • Orioles' Michael Forret: Promoted to Double-A

Forret was promoted to Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Forret will make a much-deserved jump to Double-A after registering a 1.51 ERA and 0.80 WHIP with 76 strikeouts over 59.2 innings in 16 appearances, including 15 starts, with High-A Aberdeen this season. The 21-year-old will now look to continue his impressive campaign with Chesapeake.

  • Orioles' Michael Forret: Strong start at High-A

Forret struck out five while allowing two hits and two walks across 4.2 scoreless innings in his season debut for High-A Aberdeen on Saturday. There was an incorrect report that Forret was headed to Double-A, but he still needs to put in more work at the High-A level. Forret had a 4.35 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 75:29 K:BB in 60 innings at High-A last year.

  • Orioles' Michael Forret: Pushed to Double-A

Forret will begin the season with Double-A Chesapeake, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports. Forret, who turns 21 this week, built up to 99.2 innings in 2024 across Single-A and High-A, and he'll be one of the younger starters at Double-A this year. At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, Forret has some projection remaining and he was already touching 97 mph with his fastball last season while sitting 93-95 mph. He'll be in a loaded Baysox rotation that also features Nestor German and Zach Fruit, among others.
