  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Secures another save Friday

Webb worked around a hit to toss a scoreless ninth inning and record the save in Friday's 3-0 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out one. After 6.2 sparkling innings from starter Clay Holmes, Webb followed Ryan Rolison and Ryan Zeferjahn in shutting the door on St. Louis. Webb now has nine saves this season to go along with a strong 2.33 ERA and 10.2 K/9 across 54 innings. He appears to be Chicago's closer of choice at the moment, and he's pitched well enough that he could hold onto the role even after Daniel Palencia (elbow) returns from the injured list in the near future.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Pockets eighth save

Webb recorded his eighth save of the season in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Nationals, giving up one hit and striking out two in 1.1 scoreless innings. After Ryan Zeferjahn let the Nats creep closer in the eighth inning, Webb was called in to put out the fire and got the final out of the frame before handling the ninth. Webb hasn't been tagged for a run since June 20, with his scoreless streak standing at 20.2 innings with a 0.87 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB, and he's converted all six of his save chances during that span. Daniel Palencia (elbow) isn't looking especially sharp during his rehab assignment, and Webb is making a strong case to hang onto the closer role for the Cubs even after Palencia comes off the IL.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Dominant in seventh save

Webb picked up the save Friday against the Royals, striking out two during a perfect ninth inning. The right-hander was called upon to preserve a 6-4 advantage and had no trouble putting down Kansas City in order to extend his scoreless streak to 19 games. Webb is just 7-for-11 in save opportunities this year, but he's converted his last five chances and hasn't walked a batter in his last eight outings. Daniel Palencia (elbow) is nearing his return from the injured list, but Webb's 2.44 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 58:17 K:BB through 51.2 innings this year could keep him in the closer mix even once Palencia is reinstated.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Shuts door for save Wednesday

Webb tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record the save in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Dodgers. After starter Shota Imanaga allowed just one run in his five innings of work, Chicago's middle relievers allowed five runs in three innings. Webb then managed to slow down the imposing Los Angeles lineup for his sixth save of the season. The righty has pitched well with a 2.49 ERA and 56 strikeouts across 50.2 innings this year, and he's done a good job since stepping into the closer role. However, Daniel Palencia (elbow) is due back soon, and the Cubs also picked up Ryan Zeferjahn at the trade deadline, which clouds the back end of Chicago's bullpen a bit moving forward. At the very least, Webb has earned the opportunity to keep seeing high-leverage work, possibly as part of a closer committee.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Records win Thursday

Webb (4-2) worked around a hit to toss 1.1 scoreless innings and earn the win in Thursday's 4-2, 10-inning victory over the Cardinals. He had no strikeouts or walks. Webb worked the bottom of the ninth inning in a 2-2 game and managed to force the game into extra innings. He then picked up the win when the Cubs scored twice in the top of the 10th. Webb has been effective out of Chicago's bullpen this year with a 2.64 ERA and 55 strikeouts across 47.2 innings. With Daniel Palencia (elbow) still on the injured list, Webb has a pathway to saves in the short term, though Trent Thornton is also in the mix. It remains to be seen how Chicago approaches things when Palencia returns, but Webb has given the team another reliable end-game option if needed.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Grabs fourth save

Webb recorded the final two outs Sunday to pick up the save in an 8-4 win over Cincinnati. After Caleb Thielbar allowed a pair of singles, Webb entered with one out in the ninth inning and proceeded to record the final two outs, locking down his fourth save this season. With Daniel Palencia (elbow) on the IL, Webb and Trent Thornton have stepped up as Chicago's primary ninth-inning options. Webb now has three saves in his last four appearances while holding opponents scoreless in his last nine innings. He'll head into the All-Star break with a 3.05 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 48:16 K:BB across 41.1 innings.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Picks up save Wednesday

Webb pitched a scoreless inning with no strikeouts or walks to earn the save in Wednesday's 9-7 win over the Orioles. After Daniel Palencia (elbow) landed on the injured list back in mid-June, Webb has stepped up as the primary closer for the Cubs, and he now has three saves in four chances since Palencia went out. The righty ceded a save opportunity to Trent Thornton on Tuesday, though Webb was called on in a high-leverage spot earlier in the game. Overall, the 32-year-old has a 3.18 ERA and 47 strikeouts across 39.2 innings this season, making him a fairly effective relief option to date.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Earns another save Sunday

Webb allowed a hit and a walk across two scoreless innings of relief to earn the save in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Cardinals. He struck out one. Webb worked the eighth and ninth innings on 27 pitches to record his third save of the season. The righty has earned two of those saves in the last seven games, which corresponds roughly with when Daniel Palencia (elbow) hit the injured list. Webb should continue to be Chicago's top option for saves at the moment, but his fantasy value will take a hit sometime after the All-Star break when Palencia is able to return and slide back into the closer role.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Struggles in loss Saturday

Webb (1-2) took the loss and a blown save Saturday against the Blue Jays, allowing three runs on three hits while retiring only two batters in relief. The right-hander was the second pitcher used in the eighth inning, as he came on after Caleb Thielbar walked a batter and allowed a single to start the frame. Webb still had an opportunity to protect a 5-3 Chicago lead, but he allowed a pair of RBI singles, then served up a three-run home run to Kazuma Okamoto to ultimately take the loss. Webb recorded a save Wednesday, which was Chicago's first save opportunity since Daniel Palencia (elbow) landed on the injured list. It remains to be seen who the Cubs will turn to next after this stumble.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Picks up first win

Webb (1-1) earned the win after striking out all three batters he faced in a 10-4 victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Webb entered the game in the sixth inning with the game knotted 4-4 and struck out the side to keep the game tied before the Cubs scored six unanswered runs. The 32-year-old has been near perfect in his last seven appearances, recording 7.1 scoreless frames with 12 strikeouts. Through 24 appearances this season, Webb has a 2.66 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB over 23.2 innings.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Collects first save of year

Webb walked one and struck out three over two scoreless, no-hit innings of relief Friday to record his first save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks. Manager Craig Counsell elected to stick with what was working after Webb dialed up a perfect eighth inning, and the veteran righty wound up tossing 36 total pitches (23 strikes) to get the job done. The Cubs continue to mix and match in save situations -- Hoby Milner got the save Wednesday in the team's last game -- but Daniel Palencia (lat) is beginning what should be a brief rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Friday, and he's on track to reclaim the closing role next week. Through 14 appearances this season, Webb has a 4.26 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB over 12.2 innings.

  • Cubs' Jacob Webb: Sustains first loss Sunday

Webb (0-1) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while retiring only one batter to take the loss in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Guardians. Webb has now made four appearances so far this season, and he's been scored on in half of them. The righty is sitting with an ugly 7.36 ERA, and he's nothing more than a low-leverage option for the Cubs at the moment, which limits his fantasy ceiling. Webb did pitch better for the Rangers last year, however, posting a 3.00 ERA and 58 strikeouts across 66 innings of relief, which suggests that better performances could be ahead after a middling start to 2026.

  • Jacob Webb: Cut loose by Texas

The Rangers non-tendered Webb on Friday. Webb signed a one-year deal with the Rangers in December after spending the 2024 campaign with the Orioles, but the 32-year-old right-hander will now be on the lookout for a team in need of bullpen depth. He finished the 2025 regular season with seven holds along with a 3.00 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 58:19 K:BB across 66 innings.

  • Rangers' Jacob Webb: Lands on IL with back spasms

The Rangers placed Webb on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Tuesday, due to back spasms. Webb may have started feeling symptoms during his last outing Monday against the Angels, when he allowed one run on two hits while striking out four across 1.2 innings. He'll undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury and an estimated schedule for a return, but his absence will require the Rangers to lean more on Cole Winn and Caleb Boushley for relief work. The Rangers recalled Luis Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

  • Rangers' Jacob Webb: Picks up fourth win in bullpen game

Webb (4-3) was credited with the win in Friday's 3-1 victory over the White Sox, allowing one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings of relief. He struck out one. Webb gave the Rangers two spotless innings amid a bullpen game for the club, registering his fifth scoreless outing in a row. The 31-year-old right-hander should work as a middle reliever and occasionally a high-leverage arm going forward. On the campaign, Webb owns a 4.26 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB with five holds over 31.2 innings.

  • Rangers' Jacob Webb: Gives up go-ahead homer in loss

Webb (2-3) took the loss in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Toronto after allowing two runs on two hits in the ninth inning. Webb was tasked with keeping the game tied in the ninth frame but served up a two-run home run to Bo Bichette (back), who came off the bench as a pinch hitter. Robert Garcia was brought on to handle Anthony Santander, Vladimir Guerrero and George Springer in the eighth, which was likely viewed by manager Bruce Bochy as the higher-leverage situation. Webb may have hurt his chances at seeing future ninth-inning work in Texas' bullpen, and he now owns a 5.47 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB over 24.2 frames.

  • Rangers' Jacob Webb: One-year deal with Texas

The Rangers signed Webb to a one-year, $1.25 million contract Wednesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Webb was non-tendered by the Orioles last month but has landed on his feet with a major-league deal. The 31-year-old posted a 3.02 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 56.2 regular-season innings with Baltimore in 2024.

  • Jacob Webb: Non-tendered by Baltimore

The Orioles non-tendered Webb on Friday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Webb spent most of the 2024 regular season in the majors and posted a 3.02 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 56.2 innings, though he did pitch with Triple-A Norfolk in September while on a rehab assignment due to right elbow inflammation. His ERA and WHIP numbers were his best since the 2019 season with Atlanta, but the 31-year-old will now enter free agency and should draw interest from teams looking to bolster their bullpens.

  • Orioles' Jacob Webb: Goes on IL with elbow inflammation

The Orioles placed Webb on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation. It's not clear when Webb's elbow began bothering him, but his last appearance came Saturday, when he went 1.2 scoreless innings against the Guardians. Bryan Baker was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to take Webb's spot in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster.

  • Orioles' Jacob Webb: Handed loss Friday

Webb (1-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out one over one inning to take the extra-innings loss versus the Phillies on Friday. Alec Bohm delivered a two-run double in the 11th inning, and the Orioles couldn't produce a fourth comeback in the contest. That play ended an 11-inning scoreless streak for Webb, who has been steady in a setup role for Baltimore this season. Overall, he has a 1.95 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 29:15 K:BB while adding two saves and seven holds across 32.1 innings. Webb's 4.2 BB/9 is not outside of his usual level of performance but is still high, so he may have trouble sustaining his strong ratios over a full season.
