Rangers' Max Acosta: Contract selected
The Rangers selected Acosta to their 40-man roster Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Acosta spent his entire 2024 season in Double-A Frisco. He slashed .286/.351/.423 with eight home runs and 58 strikeouts over 433 plate appearances. It was the infielder's fourth season in the minors and the numbers he tallied were his best yet. The 22-year-old is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft in December.

Rangers' Maximo Acosta: Looks healthy again
Acosta (thoracic outlet syndrome surgery) took part in an intrasquad game Sunday at the Rangers' minor-league camp.
Acosta's involvement in the intrasquad game signals that he's healthy again after undergoing surgery in August. The teenage shortstop made his pro debut with the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate in 2021, slashing .246/.279/.393 with a home run and seven stolen bases over 68 plate appearances.

Rangers' Maximo Acosta: Undergoes thoracic outlet surgery
Acosta recently underwent surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome and will miss the rest of the season, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Acosta received his first taste of professional ball with the rookie-level ACL Rangers this year, but his campaign was cut short due to the injury. He hit .246/.279/.393 with one homer, five RBI, 11 runs and seven stolen bases in 17 games. The 18-year-old will have over five months to recover before the start of spring training.
