Dingler entered the ninth inning having not put the ball in play but quickly changed that, lacing the first pitch from Enyel De Los Santos over the center-field wall for his 19th home run of the season. The Detroit catcher now has three long balls across his last six games and eight homers in 21 contests this month. The 19 deep flies overall is a career high for Dingler, who had 13 home runs in 126 regular-season games last year.

Dingler went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Yankees.
Dingler had three of Detroit's eight hits as a team as he continued to lead the Tigers' offensive attack. Dingler plated Detroit's first and only run of the contest on a first-inning single, then recorded his first triple of the season later in the game. Dingler could be ticketed for his first All-Star appearance next month, as he's been one of the best offensive backstops in the majors this year.

Dingler has fueled the Tigers' 6-1 start to the month, slashing .393/.438/1.000 with five home runs, 14 RBI and nine runs. The 27-year-old has been an excellent value pick for fantasy managers, as he currently ranks third among all catchers in home runs (16), seventh in runs (32) and first in RBI (48) on the season.

Getting a partial day off as the DH, Dingler supplied the biggest hit of the game when he took Nick Martinez deep for a three-run blast in the fourth inning. Dingler has been a linchpin of the Detroit offense over the last couple weeks, batting .267 (12-for-45) in his last 12 contests with nine extra-base hits (six homers), 10 runs and 15 RBI. Wednesday's long ball was also his 14th of the year, establishing a career high through just 55 games.

Since then, Dingler is hitting just .186 across 18 games, but he's in no real danger of losing his starting gig to Jake Rogers and his .478 OPS.
