  • Nationals' Erik Tolman: Logs another save

Tolman earned the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Phillies after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

Tolman didn't record a strikeout, but he also didn't issue a hit nor a walk, needing only 13 pitches (eight strikes) to close out the win for Washington. He has logged three saves (in four chances) over his last six outings, and with Orlando Ribalta (forearm) on the 15-day injured list, Tolman and Jack Sinclair both appear to be in the mix for save opportunities over the last couple of weeks of the regular season.

  • Nationals' Erik Tolman: Collects second save

Tolman gave up a run on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning Friday, recording his second save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Angels. He didn't strike out a batter.

The rookie southpaw wasn't sharp, tossing 15 of 25 pitches for strikes, but Tolman was able to escape with the save. He's been scored upon in three straight appearances but also has the Nationals' only two saves over the last month, and with Clayton Beeter jettisoned to Triple-A, Tolman is nominally the top option for the team in the bullpen. Expect Washington manager Blake Butera to continue auditioning new potential high-leverage options over the final weeks with his focus firmly on 2027.

  • Nationals' Erik Tolman: Dominant in first save

Tolman struck out four in two clean innings to earn the save Monday against Miami.

Closer Clayton Beeter worked two innings for a hold Sunday against the Marlins, so he likely wasn't available for Monday's save opportunity. Tolman is making a case for more high-leverage work in Washington's much-maligned bullpen, firing 6.2 scoreless innings while posting a 0.75 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB to go with a save plus a hold apiece for the Nationals so far this season.
