  • Yankees' Will Warren: Takes no-decision Wednesday

Warren allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take a no-decision Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Warren threw 48 of 85 pitches for strikes. He was rolling until the fourth inning, when the Athletics were able to pick up both of their runs against him, including the tying run coming across on a wild pitch. Warren has limited damage fairly well through three starts, maintaining a 3.07 ERA despite a 1.30 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 14.2 innings. However, his pitching hasn't led to longer starts, and he'll need to work on his efficiency to get more sustained success. He is tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Angels early next week.

  • Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Could start rehab games next week

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Volpe (shoulder) will "potentially" begin a rehab assignment next week, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Volpe is currently at extended spring training in Florida but could travel back with the Yankees after their series in Tampa Bay this weekend. The shortstop hasn't played in a game setting since last October's left shoulder labrum surgery, so his rehab assignment won't be brief. Still, if all goes well, Volpe could be ready for his season debut around the start of May.

  • Yankees' Austin Wells: Receiving night off

Wells is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Athletics.

Wells will receive a routine day of rest after he had started at catcher in each of the previous five tilts. J.C. Escarra will handle catching duties Wednesday in Wells' stead.

  • Yankees' Amed Rosario: Another start after two-homer game

Rosario will start at third base and bat eighth in Wednesday's contest versus the Athletics.

Rosario earned another start by slugging two home runs in Tuesday's victory over the Athletics. Ryan McMahon will slide over to shortstop in place of Jose Caballero, who is getting a day off Wednesday.

  • Yankees' Jose Caballero: Getting rest day Wednesday

Caballero is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Athletics.

Caballero started each of the first 10 games this season at shortstop, but he'll get some rest Wednesday. Ryan McMahon is making his first-ever professional start at shortstop, while Amed Rosario will handle third base for the Yankees.

  • Yankees' Fernando Cruz: Nabs win in relief Tuesday

Cruz (1-0) earned the win over the Athletics on Tuesday, walking two batters and striking out one over 1.1 hitless and scoreless innings.

Cruz threw only 10 of 20 pitches for strikes and walked two batters in the eighth inning, but he fanned Max Muncy to get out of that frame unscathed. The righty reliever moved in line for the victory when New York struck for four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Cruz has been working in a setup role in front of closer David Bednar and has recorded three holds through six appearances. He's pitched 4.2 frames, allowing one run while posting a 7:4 K:BB.

  • Yankees' Amed Rosario: Goes yard twice in win

Rosario went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the A's.

Starting at third base and batting seventh, Rosario was the unexpected hero for the Yankees, launching a solo shot off Aaron Civale in the second inning before ripping an elevated splitter from Mark Leiter into the left-field seats for a game-winning, three-run blast in the eighth. The 30-year-old infielder has made all four of his appearances this season at the hot corner, going 3-for-10 with five total RBI, and with Ryan McMahon struggling early (2-for-23 with a 37.9 percent strikeout rate), Rosario could find his name in manager Aaron Boone's lineup more often.

  • Yankees' David Bednar: Notches fifth save

Bednar struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 5-3 win over the A's.

The right-hander leads the majors in saves in the early going, one ahead of a group that includes the Dodgers' Edwin Diaz, the Phillies' Jhoan Duran and the Padres' Mason Miller. Bednar hasn't been quite as sharp as some of his peers, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 5:3 K:BB through 5.1 innings, but he has a firm hold on the closing gig with the Yankees.

  • Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Fans seven in no-decision

Schlittler didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the A's, giving up three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

The young right-hander only ran into real trouble in the third inning, as a pair of leadoff singles set up run-scoring doubles by Nick Kurtz and Tyler Soderstrom, but the Yankees got Schlittler off the hook for a loss with a late rally. Schlittler has a sizzling 22:0 K:BB through three starts and 16.2 innings to begin the year, fueling a 1.62 ERA and 0.48 WHIP. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Tampa Bay.

  • Yankees' Ryan McMahon: On bench Tuesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the A's.

McMahon has gone 2-for-23 with six walks and 11 strikeouts through nine games this season and will hit the bench Tuesday for the second time this year. Amed Rosario is instead starting at the hot corner and batting seventh.

  • Yankees' Mac Heuer: Pro debut delayed

Heuer is building up in extended spring training after falling behind due to arm soreness, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

As a 21-year-old who pitched the last two years in the rotation at Texas Tech, Heuer would have been assigned to Single-A or High-A if he were healthy and fully built up, but his pro debut is now to be determined. The Yankees gave Heuer a $400,000 bonus after selecting him in the eighth round last year.

  • Yankees' Bryce Cunningham: Shelved at High-A

High-A Hudson Valley placed Cunningham on the 7-day injured list April 2 due to arm soreness, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Cunningham, the No. 53 overall pick in 2024, was excellent early last season before missing a couple months with a shoulder injury. He wasn't the same after returning and was also subpar in the Arizona Fall League (10.38 ERA in 13 innings), and the fact he is behind to start this season continues a worrying trend.

  • Yankees' Dax Kilby: Nursing injury at Single-A

Single-A Tampa placed Kilby on the 7-day injured list with a hamstring strain, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Kilby suffered the injury during spring training, but Callis notes that Kilby should return soon. Assuming he puts the injury behind him, Kilby could make waves in the lower levels of the minors this year after he hit .353 with 16 steals in 18 games at Single-A last year after getting drafted out of high school with the No. 39 overall pick.
