Giants' Harrison Bader: Nursing thumb injury
Bader was removed from Friday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers due to a right thumb contusion, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Bader was removed from Friday's game after his lone at-bat in the first inning, when he grounded out to second base. Giants manager Tony Vitello relayed to reporters after the game that Bader's thumb had been bothering him "for a few days" and will be out of action for the next couple of days, per Santos. Bader signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract with the Giants in January and is expected to serve as the team's starting center fielder, and while an extended absence isn't expected, it does allow for Jerar Encarnacion and Will Brennan to both see more reps in the outfield.

Giants' Rafael Devers: Scratched due to tight hamstring
Devers was scratched from Friday's Cactus League lineup against the Dodgers because of left hamstring tightness, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
It's not clear at this point whether Devers might be sent for an MRI to check for a strain, but the Giants will be cautious with their first baseman this early in spring training. Bryce Eldridge took his spot in the lineup Friday.

Giants' Rafael Devers: Scratched from Friday's lineup
Devers was scratched from Friday's Cactus League lineup against the Dodgers, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
There's no word yet on the reasoning behind Devers being scratched, but the Giants should provide clarity shortly. Bryce Eldridge entered the lineup in Devers' place, batting second and playing first base.

Giants' Spencer Bivens: Scoreless outing in spring loss
Bivens allowed two hits in one scoreless inning during Thursday's 11-3 Cactus League loss to the Rockies.
Bivens escaped the third inning without allowing a run after surrendering a pair of singles. He tossed 10 of his 11 pitches for strikes and primarily relied on his sinker, which he threw five times. The 31-year-old is likely to make the Opening Day roster in a relief role after spending all of last season in the majors with San Francisco. Over 54 relief appearances in 2025, the right-hander posted a 4.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 61:25 K:BB across 81 innings.

Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Swats first spring homer
Eldridge went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 13-12 Cactus League loss to the Brewers.
With two outs and Christian Koss on first base, Eldridge cracked a 391-foot homer to left-center field in the third inning, giving San Francisco a two-run lead. He also drew a walk in the fourth before coming around to score. The 21-year-old made his big-league debut last September and appeared in 10 regular-season games in 2025, during which he slashed .107/.297/.179 with four RBI and two doubles across 37 plate appearances. For now, he appears likely to split playing time between DH and 1B with Rafael Devers this season.

Giants' Harrison Bader: Goes yard in spring game
Bader went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 13-12 Cactus League loss to the Brewers.
Bader, who signed a two-year, $20.5 million pact with San Francisco in January, recorded his first home run with the Giants in the fourth inning. The 31-year-old is coming off the best offensive campaign of his career in 2025, during which he slashed .277/.347/.449 with 17 long balls, 54 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 501 plate appearances over 146 regular-season games between the Twins and Phillies. He is expected to take over as the Giants' everyday center fielder this season, pushing Jung Hoo Lee to right field.

Giants' Tyler Mahle: Set for spring debut Saturday
Mahle (illness) will make his Cactus League debut Saturday against the Athletics, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Mahle has been slowed early on in Giants camp by an illness, but he's been cleared for game action. The right-hander was limited to only 16 starts in 2025 with the Rangers because of shoulder issues, but he finished the season healthy before inking a one-year, $10 million contract with San Francisco over the winter.

Giants' Gregory Santos: Issues two walks in spring debut
Santos allowed two hits and two walks across one scoreless inning during Monday's 6-2 Cactus League win over the Athletics.
Santos surrendered a double, a single and two walks but was able to escape the third inning without allowing a run. A non-roster invitee to spring training, Santos signed a minor-league pact with San Francisco in mid-December after being non-tendered by the Mariners following a forgettable two-season stretch in which he made just 16 relief appearances while missing time due to right knee and arm issues. He'll look to earn a spot in the San Francisco bullpen and return to form after his injury problems.

Giants' JT Brubaker: Gives up two runs in spring debut
Brubaker didn't factor into the decision during Monday's 6-2 Cactus League win over the Athletics, allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks across one inning.
Brubaker got the start in his first game action this spring but gave up two singles, two walks and a double in his lone frame. The right-hander re-signed with San Francisco on a one-year, $1.8 million pact after joining the club on a minor-league contract in August following his release from the Yankees. The 32-year-old appeared in five outings (one start) with the Giants in 2025, recording a 4.26 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB across 12.2 innings. Though he has plenty of experience as a starter, Brubaker appears more likely to operate in long relief to begin the season.

Giants' Brent Honeywell: Grabs MiLB deal from Giants
The Giants signed Honeywell to a minor-league contract Monday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Honeywell was non-tendered by the Dodgers following the 2024 season and wound up not pitching anywhere in 2025. The 30-year-old has made 63 appearances (three starts) at the big-league level, collecting a 4.10 ERA and 67:37 K:BB over 94.1 innings. Honeywell is likely ticketed for Triple-A Sacramento to begin the 2026 campaign.

Giants' Joel Peguero: Slated to face hitters Friday
Peguero (hamstring) will throw another bullpen session Tuesday before advancing to a live batting practice session Friday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Peguero's recovery from left hamstring tightness is coming along well. As long as he gets through his next two throwing sessions with no issues, he'll likely be cleared to pitch in Cactus League games. Peguero could be used in a setup role this season for the Giants.

Giants' Blade Tidwell: Scoreless outing in spring opener
Tidwell allowed one walk and struck out three across one scoreless inning in Saturday's 10-5 Cactus League win over the Mariners.
Tidwell struck out three of the four batters he faced Saturday, tossing 13 of his 25 pitches for strikes. While the right-hander has mostly operated as a starter in the minors, he'll have an opportunity to make the Opening Day roster as a reliever with Jason Foley (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list and Sam Hentges (shoulder/knee) still ramping up. Tidwell was acquired from the Mets last July but never saw big-league action for the Giants, missing time due to a right shoulder injury. Over four appearances (three starts) with Triple-A Sacramento in 2025, the 24-year-old posted a 1.50 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB across 18.0 innings.

Giants' Hayden Birdsong: Struggles in Cactus League opener
Birdsong allowed five earned runs on three hits, including a home run, and two walks across one-third of an inning during Saturday's 10-5 Cactus League win over the Mariners.
Birdsong started Saturday's matchup and immediately surrendered two singles and a walk before giving up a grand slam to Miles Mastrobuoni. After opening the 2025 campaign as a reliever and joining the rotation in mid-May, Birdsong was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento in July and never returned to the majors. The right-hander is expected to compete for a bullpen spot on the Opening Day roster.

Giants' Joel Peguero: Progressing well, throws bullpen
Peguero (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Peguero was limited to start spring training due to soreness in his left hamstring, but the reliever is reportedly feeling much better and appears to be closing in on game action. The 28-year-old right-hander tallied a 2.42 ERA across 22.1 innings with the Giants last season and could push for a setup role in 2026.

Giants' Casey Schmitt: Starting spring opener
Schmitt (wrist) will start at third base and bat sixth during Saturday's Cactus League game against Seattle, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
After undergoing offseason surgery to remove the carpal boss in his left wrist, Schmitt has officially been cleared for game action ahead of San Francisco's first spring exhibition game. The 26-year-old slashed .237/.305/.401 with 40 RBI and 34 runs scored across 348 plate appearances last season and is expected to begin 2026 as infield depth on the Giants' bench.

Giants' Tyler Mahle: Under the weather
Mahle has been battling through an illness but is expected to face hitters next week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Mahle has fallen behind in spring training while under the weather, but the illness isn't considered a long-term concern that will keep the 31-year-old right-hander sidelined for long. Mahle signed a one-year deal with the Giants in late December after spending the last two seasons with the Rangers. He appeared in 16 games for Texas in 2025, finishing 6-4 with a 2.18 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 66:29 K:BB across 86.2 innings.

Giants' Sam Hentges: Without timeline for return
Hentges (shoulder/knee) has been throwing 40-pitch bullpen sessions, though he has yet to face hitters and does not have an exact timeline for game action, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Hentges is still ramping up after undergoing left shoulder surgery in September 2024 and arthroscopic right knee surgery in August 2025. The left-hander said he hopes to get some games in during spring training, but there's still a chance he won't be ready for Opening Day. Hentges missed the entire 2025 campaign due to the shoulder surgery. During the 2024 season with Cleveland, he recorded a 3.04 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 27:5 K:BB across 23.2 relief innings.

Giants' Carson Whisenhunt: Velocity up in Giants camp
Whisenhunt was sitting 96-97 mph during a simulated game Thursday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Delos Santos notes that the readings were courtesy of Trackman, so it's a legitimate velocity increase for Whisenhunt, who averaged 92.6 mph with his four-seamer last season. It will be interesting to watch whether the southpaw is able to carry the velocity spike into Cactus League play and the regular season, as it could help spur a breakout. Whisenhunt entered spring training likely on the outside looking in for a spot in the Giants' rotation after holding a 5.01 ERA and 16:12 K:BB over 23.1 innings covering five starts in 2025.
