Restricted free agent Tobias Harris has agreed to re-sign with the Orlando Magic for four years and $64 million, according to RealGM's Shams Charania. The 22-year-old forward averaged 17.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season.
This looks like a great deal for both sides. Harris has as much upside as just about anyone on the free agent market, and he's already proven himself as a scorer. He made 36 percent of his 3-pointers last season, and if he can maintain or improve that, he will be incredibly valuable as a combo forward. The Magic tried to sign Paul Millsap to an $80 million contract, but this deal has a chance of being better for the franchise in the long-term.
The Magic have a young, talented roster and a head coach in Scott Skiles who wants to get the team back to the playoffs. With the addition of Mario Hezonja, it seemed like Orlando could end up letting Harris go. It's always better to retain a guy like him rather than letting him walk, though, and Skiles will have plenty of lineup combinations at his disposal next season. Their young core of Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo, Hezonja, Harris, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic has all sorts of potential.
