Top P.J. Tucker News

  • Knicks' P.J. Tucker: Gets another 10-day deal

Tucker and the Knicks agreed to a second 10-day contract Thursday, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.

During his first 10-day stint with the Knicks, Tucker made just one two-minute appearance. The 39-year-old forward doesn't look as though he'll be a regular part of the New York rotation.

  • Knicks' P.J. Tucker: Plans to ink 10-day deal with NYK

Tucker plans to join the Knicks on a short-term contract, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

The Raptors recently waived Tucker after he was shipped to Toronto ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February. Although his status was in doubt for the rest of the season, he'll have an ideal opportunity to prove he still has some basketball left in him in New York, with the Knicks needing some depth on the roster after Jalen Brunson's ankle injury.

  • P.J. Tucker: Waived by Toronto

The Raptors waived Tucker on Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

After being shipped to Toronto ahead of the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 6, Tucker seemingly had no intention to join a team with no incentive to win for the rest of the season, which sparked speculation of a buyout. Now that the Raptors have waived the 39-year-old veteran, it'll be interesting to see if he lands with another team or calls it a career.

  • Raptors' P.J. Tucker: Still away from team

Tucker (not with team) won't play in Sunday's game versus the Suns, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Tucker isn't expected to suit up for the Raptors and is reportedly waiting for his contract to get bought out. If Tucker and Toronto can't come to an agreement, the veteran forward will likely remain sidelined indefinitely.

  • Raptors' P.J. Tucker: Remains out for Friday

Tucker (personal) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Heat.

Tucker has yet to play in a game this season and is currently in discussions to get bought out by the Raptors after getting traded to Toronto as part of the massive trade that resulted in Jimmy Butler landing with the Warriors. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the defensive-minded forward.

  • Raptors' P.J. Tucker: Won't join team

Raptors general manager Bobby Webster doesn't anticipate Tucker (recently traded) joining the Raptors on Friday, and they may reach a buyout in the coming days, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.

Tucker refused to suit up for the Clippers this season. He was traded to Miami as part of the multi-team trade that sent Jimmy Butler to Golden State on Wednesday, and then Tucker was shipped to the Raptors on Thursday in exchange for Davion Mitchell. If he's bought out, contenders would certainly be interested in acquiring Tucker, though it sounds like the veteran will have the last say on where he plays next.

  • Raptors' P.J. Tucker: Traded to Toronto

Miami traded Tucker to the Raptors on Thursday in exchange for Davion Mitchell, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

Tucker was traded for the second time in the span of 24 hours. It would be a surprise if the veteran journeyman was in Toronto's plans, so he could potentially be on the move again.

  • Heat's P.J. Tucker: Traded to Miami

Tucker has been traded to the Heat as part of a massive deal involving Jimmy Butler being dealt to the Warriors, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.

Tucker has been included in the trade package that will land Andrew Wiggins in Miami. The veteran journeyman was recently traded to the Jazz but didn't play a game with Utah before being moved to the Heat.

  • Jazz's P.J. Tucker: Dealt to Utah

The Jazz acquired Tucker, Mo Bamba, a 2030 second-round pick and cash from the Clippers on Saturday in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Tucker has yet to play this season, as he stepped away from the Clippers in training camp after the team agreed to attempt to find a suitor for him in a trade. The 39-year-old is under contract for $11.54 million in 2024-25, and since no playoff-contending teams were willing to bring him aboard at that price, Utah agreed to take him on in what amounts to a salary dump. Given that the Jazz are in midst of a youth movement and aren't likely to dedicate a spot in the rotation to Tucker, he'll likely be bought out of his contract if he isn't traded elsewhere ahead of next Thursday's deadline. At least until the deadline, don't expect Tucker to be active for any of the Jazz's games, given that he hasn't been part of a team structure this season and will likely need at least a couple weeks to ramp up and get himself in playing shape.

  • Clippers' P.J. Tucker: Not with team

The Clippers announced Sunday that Tucker will not be with the team moving forward, Joey Linn of SI.com reports.

The Clippers are expected to officially part ways with Tucker soon, potentially by finding a club to buy out his contract. The 39-year-old made 28 regular-season appearances (seven starts) for the Clippers last season, during which he averaged 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds across 15.0 minutes. While Tucker may not be able to contribute much on the floor at this point in his career, his veteran presence and playoff leadership could potentially make him a viable target for a contending team.

  • Clippers' P.J. Tucker: Staying with LA in 2024-25

Tucker said Friday that he will exercise his $11.54 million player option to remain with the Clippers for the 2024-25 season, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Acquired from Philadelphia in October as part of the deal that sent James Harden to Los Angeles, Tucker largely struggled to find a role with the Clippers. He made 28 appearances (seven starts) for Los Angeles, averaging 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15.0 minutes. He had re-emerged as a rotation player at the tail end of the Clippers' first-round playoff series loss to the Mavericks, though LA was without Kawhi Leonard (knee) for both of those contests. Now heading into his age-39 campaign in 2024-25, Tucker appears unlikely to see steady playing time in what will be his first full season with the Clippers.

The Clippers are opting for more of a defensive presence as they are facing an elimination game. Amir Coffey will head to the bench with this move.

Tucker won't start Game 1 of the opening-round series against the Mavericks on Sunday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Tucker started six straight games to end the regular season, averaging only 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds during that stretch. Kawhi Leonard (knee) remains sidelined, but Amir Coffey will take Leonard's place and be joined by Paul George, James Harden, Terance Mann and Ivica Zubac.
