The Knicks aren't expected to retain Henson (calf) after his 10-day contract expired Thursday, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.
New York brought in Henson on April 5 to provide depth at center after Mitchell Robinson underwent foot surgery, but the 30-year-old never got the chance to debut for the Knicks. He suffered a right calf strain in his second day practicing with the team and been ruled out ahead of four straight games with the injury. The Knicks could revisit re-signing Henson once he recovers from the calf injury, but the team is presumably more interested in bringing in a healthy player to fill the final opening on its roster for the time being.

Henson (ankle) is expected to miss roughly a week due to a sprained ankle, Rod Beard of the Detroit News reports.
Henson had started the last six games at center, but he'll likely cede the position to Thon Maker for the next two games. Henson drew the start alongside Christian Wood (foot) with Thon Maker (ankle) sidelined. Furthermore, Henson chipped in across every category except threes and has earned at least 20 minutes in three of the last four outings. Henson saw his most extensive playing time to date since being acquired by the Pistons earlier this month, but this quality showing off the bench won't necessarily earn him consistent run moving forward. As a 29-year-old whose contract is set to expire this summer, Henson may not be prioritized over Thon Maker. Though Maker -- an impending restricted free agent -- isn't necessarily part of the Pistons' long-term plans, he's at least six years younger and offers more theoretical upside at this stage of his career than Henson does.
Henson finished with seven points (3-4 FG, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and three blocks across 17 minutes off the bench Monday in the Pistons' 87-76 loss to the Hornets.
There were few quality statistical lines on a night in which both teams shot worse than 40 percent from the field, but Henson's efficiency, rebounding and shot blocking were enough for him to pay off for those that streamed him. Henson could gradually eat into starting center Thon Maker's playing time, but until then, he'll remain more of an option in 14-team leagues or deeper while he's seeing under 20 minutes.

Making his team debut after coming over from the Cavaliers in Thursday's trade that sent Andre Drummond to Cleveland, Henson immediately seized a spot in Detroit's frontcourt rotation. Coach Dwane Casey rolled with Thon Maker as the starting center Saturday, but once he has a chance to settle into his new locale, Henson could unseat Maker for the top job or at least handle a larger share of minutes.
