  • Magic's Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Strong defensive effort

Caldwell-Pope contributed 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, two assists, two blocks and two steals across 26 minutes during Friday's 116-101 victory over the Nets. Caldwell-Pope tallied four combined defensive stats, a welcome sight for anyone rostering him in competitive leagues. It appears as though he is going to play a crucial role for his new team, albeit one with very little offensive upside. He is worth holding for another game or two, but given what we have seen thus far, he is likely to spend a lot of time on and off the fantasy waiver wire moving forward.

Caldwell-Pope won't start Wednesday's preseason game against the Spurs. Caldwell-Pope made his Magic debut Monday, posting two points and two rebounds in 17 minutes as a starter. • Magic's Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Catches on with Orlando

Caldwell-Pope agreed Sunday with the Magic on a three-year, $66 million deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Caldwell-Pope is headed to Orlando after spending the last two seasons with the Nuggets. The 31-year-old wing averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.6 three-pointers and 1.3 steals per game in 31.6 minutes per contest over his 76 appearances while shooting 40.6 percent from three-point range. Caldwell-Pope will probably see only a modest increase in usage in Orlando even though he's no longer playing alongside three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and another premium scorer in Jamal Murray, but he should be a notable upgrade at the shooting guard spot for a Magic squad that often started Gary Harris, Caleb Houstan or Anthony Black alongside Franz Wagner on the wing last season.

  • Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Declines player option

Caldwell-Pope declined his $15.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season Thursday and will become a free agent, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Caldwell-Pope was remarkably consistent for the Nuggets over the past two seasons, and he averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.6 minutes per game over 76 regular-season appearances last year. He'll test the open market this summer, and he should draw interest from multiple teams.

  • Nuggets' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Poor offensive showing Sunday

Caldwell-Pope racked up five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 40 minutes during Sunday's 98-90 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Caldwell-Pope scored single digits for the sixth time in the past eight games, highlighting the Nuggets' struggles when it comes to depth on the offensive end. While he continues to play a key role for Denver, his lack of production cannot be ignored when it comes to fantasy value. Looking ahead to next season, there is no reason to think he will be anything more than a situational streamer, utilized for steals and threes.
