Cook was waived by the Kings on Thursday, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
Cook joined the Kings in early August but will be let go ahead of the team's preseason finale. He hasn't appeared in the NBA since the 2020-21 season and seems like a strong candidate to wind up in the G League to begin the 2021-22 campaign.

Kings' Quinn Cook: Joins Sacramento for camp
Rotowire
Cook agreed Monday with the Kings on a one-year contract, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports.
Cook's deal likely includes limited guaranteed money and brings the Kings roster total up to 19 players as training camp approaches. The 29-year-old has 188 games' worth of NBA experience on his resume, but he hasn't appeared at basketball's top level since the 2020-21 campaign and will likely find himself on the outside looking in for a spot in the Kings' opening night roster. He most recently suited up for the Kings' G League affiliate in Stockton during the 2021-22 season.

Quinn Cook: Heading to G League
Rotowire
Cook signed a G League contract Tuesday and is expected to join one of the affiliated teams in the near future.
Cook, a five-year NBA veteran who was waived by the Trail Blazers in October, had most recently been playing for Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban before being released in late December. The 28-year-old's ample experience at basketball's top level should make him a candidate to immediately thrive in the G League once he finds a team.

Quinn Cook: Finds work in Russia
Rotowire
Cook signed a one-year contract Tuesday with Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban, Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.net reports.
After being cut loose by Portland in training camp and subsequently failing to find another landing spot in the NBA, Cook will forgo G League opportunities for a more lucrative payday overseas. Cook's deal with Lokomotiv presumably includes an NBA out clause, so he could resurface in North America if he impresses during his time in Russia. Cook most recently spent parts of the 2020-21 campaign with the Lakers and Cavaliers, appearing in 23 games and averaging 3.3 points in 6.8 minutes per contest.

Rotowire
Cook scored five points (2-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and handed out three assists in 18 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Hawks.

Quinn Cook: Waived by Lakers
Rotowire
The Lakers informed Cook of his release following Monday's 127-124 overtime loss to the Wizards, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Los Angeles was satisfied enough with how Cook had performed as a depth guard, but the team elected to part ways with him to create more cap flexibility before his 2020-21 salary became fully guaranteed Wednesday. After releasing Cook, the Lakers are now able to sign two players to prorated veteran's minimum deals after Feb. 24. The veteran guard has experience as a deep bench option on champion clubs in the Lakers and Warriors, so he shouldn't have too much trouble finding a job with another team.

With Dennis Schroder (COVID-19 protocols) out of the lineup, Cook scored a season-high seven points and played a season-high 11 minutes. However, even if Schroder does miss more time, Cook isn't someone to target as he has only played in 16 games this season.
