  • Jalen McDaniels: Officially waived

The Spurs waived McDaniels on Wednesday, per the NBA transaction log. The Spurs acquired McDaniels and a second-round pick via trade Monday, but he'll be cut loose just two days later. The 26-year-old appeared in 50 regular-season games for Toronto last season, averaging 3.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists across 10.8 minutes.

  • Spurs' Jalen McDaniels: Traded to San Antonio

McDaniels was traded to the Spurs on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. The Spurs also secured a second-round pick with this transaction. McDaniels is a versatile defender, but the Spurs have a lot of depth at both forward spots, so it will be tough for him to crack the rotation. In fact, the Spurs are planning to waive him in the near future, Charania adds in his report. In 248 career regular-season games, McDaniels holds averages of 6.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

  • Kings' Jalen McDaniels: Headed to Sacramento

The Raptors traded McDaniels to the Kings in exchange for Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, the No. 45 pick in 2024 NBA Draft and a second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft via Portland on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. During his first year in Toronto, McDaniels served as depth in the team's forward rotation. In 2023-24, he averaged 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.8 minutes across 50 appearances, including one start. However, the 25-year-old mightily struggled with his efficiency, posting 34.4/16.9/73.0 shooting splits. If McDaniels isn't able to drastically increase his offensive output, he will likely struggle to find minutes in Sacramento.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Returns to reserve role

McDaniels will come off the bench in Friday's game versus the Bucks. With RJ Barrett back in the starting lineup, McDaniels will slide back into his usual reserve role. He has averaged 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists across 9.8 minutes in 44 games off the bench this season.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Grabs eight boards in spot start

McDaniels had 13 points (6-15 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and four assists over 37 minutes during Wednesday's 133-85 loss to the Timberwolves. McDaniels played 37 minutes at power forward in his first start of the season. The San Diego State product has failed to catch on with the team, averaging only 10.4 minutes on the floor over 45 games. He's now with his third team over five seasons, and although we may see more of him as the season draws to a close, it may be too late for him to show his stuff.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Starting Wednesday

McDaniels will enter the first unit for Wednesday's game against Minnesota, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports. McDaniels will join Immanuel Quickley, Garrett Temple, Gradey Dick and Malik Williams in the first unit for the shorthanded Raptors, who have only eight players available. It'll be McDaniels' first start of 2023-24 and a strong opportunity to score in double figures for the fourth time this year.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Records three steals

McDaniels logged 12 points (5-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist and three steals in 19 minutes during Monday's 125-119 loss to the Nuggets. McDaniels was outside of the rotation for a while, but injuries have afforded him another chance in Toronto. He's capable of filling up a stat sheet, especially on the defensive end, so he's someone for fantasy managers to keep an eye on down the stretch.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Available for Thursday

McDaniels (illness) will be available to play Thursday against the Suns, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports. While McDaniels will be available, that doesn't necessarily mean he'll touch the floor. He's an inconsistent part of the rotation and can safely remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Listed as probable Thursday

McDaniels (illness) has been upgraded to probable ahead of Thursday's game against the Suns. McDaniels has received inconsistent minutes all season, and his availability is not likely to affect the Raptors' rotation much. That said, he's trending in the right direction after initially being tagged as questionable.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Added to injury report

McDaniels is listed as questionable for Thursday's game versus the Suns due to an illness. McDaniels has received inconsistent minutes for the Raptors this season. If the 25-year-old forward is ruled out, his absence shouldn't affect Toronto's rotation.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Inflicts damage in garbage time

McDaniels ended Friday's 145-113 loss to the Jazz with 15 points (4-5 FG, 7-10 FT), three rebounds and one steal across seven minutes. McDaniels entered the game midway through the fourth quarter and drained 15 points in just seven minutes on the floor. Although the game's outcome was sealed, McDaniels' slashing aggression resulted in 10 free-throw attempts, a shocking total when you consider his overall court time. With new playmakers like RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley in the headlines, it's easy to discount McDaniels, but explosive totals like this could help his chances to make a bigger impact down the line.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Scores season-high 13 points

McDaniels registered 13 points (5-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists and one steal in 15 minutes during Friday's 120-118 loss to Boston. McDaniels scored double-digit points for the first time this season, playing at least 15 minutes for the second straight game. It's been a disappointing season for McDaniels, as he's struggled to carve out a meaningful role in Toronto. Despite the recent uptick in playing time, there is no reason to consider him a viable fantasy asset.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Sees 13 minutes Tuesday

McDaniels closed Tuesday's 115-103 loss to Brooklyn with five points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 13 minutes. McDaniels recently fell out of the rotation in Toronto, and this was his first time reaching double-digit minutes since Nov. 15. With the starters in Toronto playing such heavy workloads, it will be hard for McDaniels to make anything more than a limited fantasy impact.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Minimal production in OT win

McDaniels produced zero points (0-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound over five minutes during Sunday's 123-116 overtime victory over the Spurs. McDaniels averaged a career-high 23.9 minutes per game over 80 appearances between the Hornets and 76ers last year, but he's been limited early in the 2023-24 campaign after signing a two-year deal with Toronto during the offseason. He's played single-digit minutes in each of his last four appearances and has also been held scoreless in five of his six outings this year. Unless the Raptors deal with multiple injuries at some point, it seems unlikely that McDaniels will have much fantasy value.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Plays 17 minutes in win

McDaniels logged nine minutes (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one steal in 17 minutes during Sunday's 134-93 preseason win over Cairns. McDaniels was slightly more efficient during the Raptors' preseason opener, but he still managed to put together a solid stat line during Sunday's exhibition matchup. After joining the Raptors on a two-year, $9.3 million contract during the offseason, he should have an opportunity to carve out a consistent bench role this year.

  • Raptors' Jalen McDaniels: Signs with Raptors

McDaniels signed a two-year, $9.3 million deal with the Raptors on Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. McDaniels spent the 2022-23 season with the Hornets and 76ers, mostly playing off the bench with both teams and logging a combined 80 appearances, though he also posted 24 starts. The four-year veteran averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game and should be a solid bench piece with Toronto.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Officially available Thursday

McDaniels (illness) is available for Thursday's Game 3 against the Nets. McDaniels dealt with an illness ahead of Thursday's matchup, but he'll suit up as the 76ers attempt to take a 3-0 lead in the series. Over the first two matchups of the playoffs, he's averaged 2.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Likely to play Thursday

McDaniels (illness) "should be available" for Thursday's game versus the Nets after participating in shootaround, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. He is averaging 2.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 19.5 minutes across the series' first two contests.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Iffy Thursday

McDaniels is questionable for Game 3 against the Nets on Thursday due to a non-COVID illness. McDaniels has played 17 and 22 minutes, respectively, during the first two contests of the series. If he is unable to suit up Thursday, Danuel House, Furkan Korkmaz and Georges Niang would be candidates to receive increased minutes.

  • 76ers' Jalen McDaniels: Retreats to bench for Game 1

McDaniels will not start Saturday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round. As expected, the Sixers' regular starters will retake their spots in the starting unit. McDaniels will reclaim his bench role as a result and will see his minutes decrease. He should still see some work off the bench, but the starters will likely be leaned on more in the postseason.
