  • Jazz's Darryn Peterson: Inefficient in SL loss

Peterson ended with 15 points (4-16 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block over 29 minutes in Wednesday's 94-82 Summer League loss to the Spurs. After resting Monday, Peterson returned to action Wednesday but struggled to find his shot, finishing with his lowest scoring output of the summer. In his previous four appearances between the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas portions of the Summer League, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft had scored at least 20 points in each contest. Peterson figures to play a significant role from the outset of the 2026-27 regular season.

  • Jazz's Darryn Peterson: Nets 23 points with four stocks

Peterson finished with 23 points (6-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks over 26 minutes during Sunday's 104-82 Las Vegas Summer League loss to the Clippers. Peterson showcased his explosiveness with a vicious throwdown early in the game, and while he didn't have his most efficient outing, he did an excellent job drawing contact and getting to the free-throw line. He's been one of the standout performers at Summer League, elevating expectations for his already highly anticipated rookie season.

  • Jazz's Darryn Peterson: Impresses in SL win

Peterson posted 25 points (8-15 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 12 assists, two rebounds and two steals across 28 minutes in Monday's 109-100 Salt Lake City Summer League win over the Grizzlies. Peterson stuffed the stat sheet in this one, dropping a game-high 25 points after scoring 28 in his first appearance in Salt Lake City. The second overall pick in this year's draft also showcased his playmaking ability, pacing all players with 12 assists after dishing out just two dimes in his previous outing. Additionally, the rookie guard has now generated two combined steals-plus-blocks in back-to-back games.

  • Jazz's Darryn Peterson: Lands with Utah at No. 2

Peterson was selected by the Jazz with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Peterson entered the collegiate ranks as one of the most highly touted recruits in the country and showed flashes of greatness during his lone season at Kansas. Recurring cramping issues occasionally impacted his availability, but the guard was a dynamic scorer when on the floor, averaging 20.2 points on 43.8 percent shooting from the field and 38.2 percent from beyond the arc to go along with 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 29.0 minutes per contest across 24 appearances. The 19-year-old primarily operated off the ball in college and therefore still has room to grow as a playmaker and ballhandler, but Peterson's pure scoring ability makes it easy to understand why he was selected at No. 2 overall and is viewed as a potential superstar. With the Jazz, Peterson will slot into the backcourt alongside emerging standout Keyonte George (hamstring) as Utah attempts to turn the corner on its rebuild.
