The Pistons re-signed Reed to a one-year contract Monday, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Detroit waived Reed on Saturday, after he had appeared in 12 of the club's first 26 games while averaging 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds over 10.3 minutes per game. He was in the midst of the second season of a three-year, $25.56 million deal, but the Pistons were unwilling to keep him on board with his current contract since he would have been fully guaranteed $7.7 million in salary for 2025-26 had he remained on the roster through January. After Reed cleared waivers, the Pistons elected to bring him back at a more palatable salary figure for a third-string center. He'll become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

The Pistons are waiving Reed on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Pistons' Paul Reed: Plays 15 minutes in blowout loss
Rotowire
Reed closed with four points (2-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three assists, two steals and one block in 15 minutes during Thursday's 123-99 loss to the Celtics.
With Jalen Duren (wrist) sidelined, the 25-year-old worked his way into the rotation behind Isaiah Stewart. Reed tied his season-high mark in minutes Thursday, though he shouldn't see much playing time when Duren returns. Reed has averaged 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds across 10.3 minutes per game in 12 regular-season appearances.

Pistons' Paul Reed: Increased role Wednesday
Rotowire
Reed amassed 13 points (6-6 FG, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one block and two steals in 12 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Hornets.
Reed logged a season-high 12 minutes, sliding up in the rotation after Jalen Duren was forced from the game due to an ankle injury. While Duren attempted to play through the issue, he was eventually removed and could certainly be at risk of missing time. Should we get word that Duren will be sidelined for any length of time, Reed could be someone to consider for streaming purposes. Isaiah Stewart would likely move into the starting lineup but is somewhat undersized, so Reed could log meaningful minutes.

Pistons' Paul Reed: Sees playing time in blowout loss
Rotowire
Reed logged five points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over seven minutes during Friday's 128-98 loss to the Knicks.
Reed has played in only two of Detroit's six outings so far in 2024-25. However, with Friday's game being a blowout, the 25-year-old big man was able to log seven minutes of action. Still, unless there are significant injuries ahead of him on the depth chart, Reed is unlikely to garner significant fantasy interest.

Pistons' Paul Reed: Grabs nine boards vs. Cleveland
Rotowire
Reed supplied six points (3-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals over 18 minutes in Wednesday's 108-92 preseason win over the Cavaliers.
Reed managed to lead both teams in rebounding Wednesday as the Pistons' reserves saw extended playing time in the preseason finale. After being let go by the 76ers in early July, Reed was claimed off waivers by the Pistons to add some depth to the front court. However, he will likely begin the 2024-25 regular season as the third-string center behind starter Jalen Duren and backup Isaiah Stewart.

Pistons' Paul Reed: Heading to Motor City
Rotowire
The Pistons claimed Reed off waivers Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Reed is on the second year of a three-year, $24 million deal, and he will now join former 76ers teammate, Tobias Harris, in Detroit's frontcourt. Reed will likely compete for minutes with Isaiah Stewart off the bench behind Jalen Duren. After averaging 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks across 19.4 minutes in 82 regular-season games with the club last year, Reed was waived by the 76ers on July 6.

76ers' Paul Reed: Being released by Philly
Rotowire
The 76ers plan to waive Reed on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Reed is currently on a non-guaranteed contract, and Philadelphia plans to waive the big man to open up more cap space. The 25-year-old had a career-best year due to Joel Embiid missing significant time, during which Reed averaged 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks across 19.4 minutes in 82 regular-season games.

76ers' Paul Reed: Impresses off bench
Rotowire
Reed registered 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals across 24 minutes during Sunday's 121-107 win over the Clippers.
This was quite the showing from Reed as he showcased his ability to stuff the stat sheet across the board. His defense and rebounding are his calling cards, as he's averaging 1.6 blocks, 1.2 steals and 7.3 rebounds in March.

76ers' Paul Reed: Back to bench
Rotowire
Reed won't start Friday's game against the Pelicans.
Reed returned to the starting lineup Wednesday and posted 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes before fouling out. He'll be replaced by Mo Bamba at center, but Reed should still play plenty of minutes off the bench.

76ers' Paul Reed: Double-double against Grizzlies
Rotowire
Reed notched 17 points (8-17 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 11 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal in 24 minutes before fouling out of Wednesday's 115-109 loss to Memphis.
Shifting back into the starting five after coming off the bench for three games, Reed responded with his fifth double-double of the season. Joel Embiid (knee) doesn't appear to be close to returning from knee surgery, so Reed will continue filling a large role in the Sixers' frontcourt, but his production has been erratic. Over 16 games since Embiid went down, Reed is averaging 8.8 points, 7.8 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.3 blocks over 25.4 minutes a contest.

76ers' Paul Reed: Won't start Friday
Rotowire
Reed won't start Friday's game against the Hornets, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed has started 14 of Phildelphia's last 15 contests. However, the 76ers are switching things up Friday, replacing Reed with Mo Bamba. Given how depleted the 76ers' frontcourt depth is, Reed figures to see plenty of playing time off the bench, but his fantasy value still takes a hit.

Reed is averaging 10.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17 games as a starter this season. The 24-year-old grades is a quality two-way rebounder and defensive playmaker, with Monday's production being indicative of realistic rest-of-season expectations.

76ers' Paul Reed: Feeling better
Rotowire
Reed, who's suited up for the last two games despite battling an illness, said he's feeling "a lot better" after Wednesday's morning shootaround, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Reed was limited to 15 and 22 minutes, respectively, over the last two games while battling an illness, totaling just four points, 10 rebounds and one block. With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, the 76ers need all the production they can get out of Reed, who's averaging 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steals in 24.7 minutes across his previous 13 starts this season.

76ers' Paul Reed: Dealing with illness
Rotowire
Coach Nick Nurse said Reed is dealing with an illness ahead of Monday's game versus Dallas, but the center will suit up, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, the 76ers need Reed available for as many minutes as possible, but the backup big man will presumably be limited against the Mavericks. He was reportedly dealing with the aliment ahead of Saturday's blowout loss to Brooklyn, and he posted just two points and four rebounds in 15 minutes during that contest.

76ers' Paul Reed: Double-digit boards Thursday
Rotowire
Reed supplied seven points (3-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal over 28 minutes during Thursday's 127-124 win over the Jazz.
Getting his third start in the last four games due to Joel Embiid's knee trouble, Reed led the Sixers in rebounding as he pulled down 10-plus boards for the third time this season. In 11 contests as a starter, the fourth-year forward is averaging 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.2 steals in 25.8 minutes a game, and with Embiid potentially facing an extended absence, Reed's run of fantasy relevance should continue.
