Alvarado amassed 26 points (8-13 FG, 8-13 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, four assists and five steals in 19 minutes during Wednesday's 138-89 victory over Philadelphia.
It was perhaps Alvarado's finest performance of the year, as he set a season high in points, steals and treys. The 27-year-old point guard is quicky settling into a significant role since landing in New York, but his fantasy upside is likely to remain capped while Jalen Brunson is healthy and Landry Shamet continues to play big minutes. Through three games with the Knicks, Alvarado is averaging 14.0 points, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals in and 3.3 three-pointers 20.7 minutes per game.

Alvarado accumulated 12 points (5-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block over 25 minutes during Sunday's 111-89 win over the Celtics.
Alvarado made an immediate impact in his Knicks debut, reaching double figures and recording three stocks off the bench. In 41 games with the Pelicans this season, the scrappy guard averaged 7.9 points, 3.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 21.9 minutes per contest. While his role may fluctuate from night to night, Alvarado projects as a high-energy reserve capable of providing consistent defensive intensity for head coach Mike Brown.

Knicks' Jose Alvarado: Set to make team debut Sunday
Alvarado (recently traded) is not on the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Celtics.
Alvarado was acquired by the Knicks from the Pelicans on Thursday in exchange for Dalen Terry and two second-round picks. With the trade being finalized, Alvarado is on track to make his debut with New York on Sunday, and he could see a sizable role right out of the gate if Josh Hart (ankle) is unable to play. Alvarado was heavily linked to the Knicks in recent weeks, so it's not a surprise to see this come to fruition. Alvarado (oblique) tallied six points (2-5 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist across 13 minutes Sunday in the Pelicans' 104-95 win over the Spurs.
Following a nine-game absence due to an oblique strain, Alvarado made his return to action Sunday and reclaimed a spot on the Pelicans' second unit. When healthy, Alvarado has mostly served as the top backup at point guard to Jeremiah Fears, but the two played alongside one another off the bench while interim head coach James Borrego dropped Jordan Poole from the rotation and ran out a starting five lacking a true point guard. Borrego could shake up the lineup at some point, but Alvarado seems likely to continue operating off the bench and could struggle to regain a consistent 20-plus-minute role while the Pelicans have all their key contributors available, save for Dejounte Murray (Achilles).

Pelicans interim head coach James Borrego said Monday that Alvarado (oblique) is "closer to two weeks away" from playing again, Rod Walker of The Times-Picayune reports.
Alvarado has already missed three games in a row due to a left oblique strain, and the Pelicans seemingly want to give him even more time to get the issue resolved. While Alvarado remains sidelined, Jeremiah Fears should have a higher minutes floor as the Pelicans' starting point guard, and players such as Micah Peavy and Bryce McGowens could also have longer leashes in the rotation.
