Mogbo contributed 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 25 minutes during Wednesday's 138-133 loss to the Hornets.

Mogbo made his first career start in Wednesday's loss with Scottie Barnes (eye) out. Mogbo played the fewest minutes of any starter but still made a strong defensive impact. • Raptors' Jonathan Mogbo: Moves into starting lineup

Mogbo will start Wednesday's game against the Hornets.

With Scottie Barnes (eye) and Immanuel Quickley (pelvis) in street clothes, Mogbo will make his first career start. Mogbo played 24 minutes off the bench during last week's win over the 76ers and posted 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals.

  • Raptors' Jonathan Mogbo: Fills stat sheet Friday

Mogbo produced 12 points (3-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-7 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals over 24 minutes during Friday's 115-107 win over Philadelphia.

Mogbo was limited to just 11 minutes in the season-opening loss to the Cavaliers, but he saw an uptick in his playing time Friday and made the most of the opportunity. The rookie second-round pick shouldn't be relied upon to post these kind of numbers on a regular basis going forward, especially once the Raptors get the likes of RJ Barrett (shoulder), Immanuel Quickley (pelvis), Kelly Olynyk (back) and Bruce Brown (knee) back from injury. However, Mogbo might have done enough through his first two games to make a strong case for holding down a regular spot on the second unit once the Raptors get some more healthy bodies back in the mix.

  • Raptors' Jonathan Mogbo: Goes 31st to Toronto

Mogbo was selected by the Raptors with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Mogbo played two years of junior college basketball before spending a year at Missouri State and finishing out at San Francisco last season. In 2023-24, Mogbo posted 14.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 63.6 percent from the field. At 6-6 with a 7-3 wingspan, Mogbo is somewhat of a hybrid, capable of playing both on and off the ball and defending multiple positions. At the NBA level, Mogbo will likely be a defense-first, energy player who does the little things. At this stage in his development, Mogbo is essentially a non-shooter outside of the paint.
