Banton became a free agent Sunday after his 10-day contract with the Celtics expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
During his second stint in Boston -- he previously played in 24 contests for the Celtics in 2023-24 -- Banton made three garbage-time appearances and totaled four points (1-5 FG, 2-2 FT), two assists and one block over 16 total minutes. The Celtics will have the ability to re-sign him to a second 10-day deal, but it's unclear if the team intends to keep him in the fold or use the roster spot on another player.

Celtics' Dalano Banton: Back in rotation Tuesday
Banton totaled no counting stats in four minutes during Tuesday's 97-81 win over the Suns.
Banton logged four minutes, moving back into the rotation after sitting out the previous four games. Despite his reputation as a silly-season specialist, it would appear as though Banton is going to struggle to play any sort of consistent role for the remainder of the season. With Boston poised to make a playoff push, expect to see him spending more time on the bench than on the court.

The Clippers are signing Banton to a 10-day contract, Law Murray of The Athletic reports Saturday.
Banton has spent the entire 2025-26 season with the Texas Legends in the G League, where he is averaging 23.7 points, 5.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks over 33.3 minutes per game. He'll give the Clippers some added backcourt depth in the absences of Darius Garland (toe/recently traded) and Bennedict Mathurin (recently traded). Banton finished the regular season in a starting role due to the absence of several other regulars in the rotation. Still, the former Nebraska standout made the most of the opportunity. He scored in double figures in six of his last seven starts, a stretch in which he averaged 16.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.0 blocks per game, although the efficiency was lacking since he made only 33.6 percent of his shots and 22.2 percent of his treys.
