Raiders' Desmond Trufant: Joins Las Vegas
Trufant signed a deal to join the Raiders on Wednesday.
Trufant has reached a deal to join his fifth NFL team for the 2021-22 season. The cornerback has spent time playing for the Falcons, Lions, Bears and, most recently, the Saints. The former 22nd overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft will look to provide support to a shaky Raiders' secondary.

Desmond Trufant: Cut by New Orleans
Trufant was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Trufant joined the Saints ahead of Week 1 and played 53 offensive snaps across the first two weeks of the season, but he didn't see the field over the past three games. Saints' Desmond Trufant: Good to go for Week 1
Trufant (groin) isn't listed on the Saints' injury report Wednesday.
Trufant had a busy offseason as he signed with Chicago and then was cut after missing a few weeks of training camp dealing with a personal matter. Now with the Saints, the cornerback's groin injury seems to have cleared up, as Trufant will be available for Sunday's opener against the Packers.

Trufant (groin) worked out for the Saints on Monday and is expected to be signed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Saints are in need of help opposite of Marshon Lattimore as Ken Crawley (undisclosed) is uncertain for Week 1, and Brian Poole was already placed on IR. Desmond Trufant: Cut by Chicago
Trufant (groin/personal) was released by the Bears on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Trufant suffered a groin injury early in camp and stepped away from the team Aug. 13 due to the death of his father, and the Bears opted to part ways, given he hadn't returned to camp over the past couple weeks. The 30-year-old still wants to play this season, though it's unclear when he may be ready to take the field following the absence.

Bears' Desmond Trufant: Nursing groin injury
Trufant (groin) is not practicing Friday, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.
Trufant signed a one-year deal with the Bears back in March and could be pegged for a starting role, so it makes sense for the team to take a cautious approach to his health. A hamstring injury limited Trufant during much of the 2020 season, during which he could suit up for only six games with the Lions.

Bears' Desmond Trufant: Replacing Fuller in Chicago
Trufant (hamstring) is signing a one-year contract with the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The veteran corner could be a replacement for Kyle Fuller, who reportedly will be traded or released in the coming days. Trufant was a 16-game starter in four of his first six NFL seasons, but he managed only nine appearances his final year (2019) in Atlanta and six last year in Detroit. The 30-year-old struggled with a hamstring injury throughout most of the 2020 campaign.

Desmond Trufant: Officially let go
The Lions released Trufant (hamstring) on Wednesday.
The move was expected, and the Lions made it official when the new league year began Wednesday. The 30-year-old cornerback fought through a hamstring injury in 2020, and he struggled when he was on the field, finishing as the team's worst-graded cornerback, per Pro Football Focus. The Lions will save $6.1 million in salary-cap space with the transaction.

Lions' Desmond Trufant: Will be released
The Lions will release Trufant (hamstring) later this month, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
Throughout the past two seasons, Trufant has struggled to stay healthy while suiting up for 15 games in that span. Though the Lions will absorb a $6 million dead cap hit with this release, the move does create $6.1 million in cap space for the franchise. The veteran cornerback will leave Detroit after spending just one season with the team, in which he posted 20 tackles, one sack and a pick in six games.
