  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Set to suit up Sunday

Gholston (knee) is not among Tampa Bay's inactives for Sunday's Week 18 matchup versus the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Gholston logged an LP/LP/DNP practice progression this week due to a knee issue and entered the weekend deemed questionable to play. However, the veteran defensive end is going to be able to take the field in Tampa Bay's important regular-season finale. Gholston hasn't been getting many opportunities of late, though, with fewer than 10 defensive snaps in five of his past six contests.

  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Nabs first sack of season

Gholston posted three tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, and recorded an additional quarterback hit in the Buccaneers' 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday.

The veteran defensive lineman recorded one of five sacks on rookie Spencer Rattler in his first NFL start. Gholston logged under 20 defensive snaps for the third straight game, however, and given he's never been known for his pass-rushing prowess, the 12-year veteran is far from a reliable IDP option at this stage of his career.

  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Ready to play

Gholston (knee) is active Sunday against the Broncos.

Gholston logged back-to-back DNPs during practice to start the week, but he returned to log a limited session Friday. He'll bolster the Buccaneers' depth on their defensive front in Week 3.

  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Back with Tampa

Gholston re-signed with the Buccaneers on Monday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

Gholston will remain in Tampa Bay in 2024 for what will be his 12th season in the league. The 32-year-old played a career-low 234 snaps on defense last season, recording zero sacks for the second consecutive year, although he did log his first career interception. He'll likely remain a depth option on the edge for the Buccaneers in 2024.

  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Set to return Week 16

Gholston (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Scott missed the Buccaneers' Week 15 win over the Packers with a knee injury he sustained the week prior against the Falcons. He's filled in as a backup defensive end behind starters Calijah Kancey and Logan Hall this season. Gholston has 15 tackles (eight solo) and one interception over 13 games.

  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Could return versus Jacksonville

Gholston (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Gholston was ruled out for Week 15 against the Packers, his first missed game since 2017. He was able to participate in limited fashion in all three practices this week and could be good to go Sunday. He has 15 tackles (eight solo) and one interception over 13 games this season as the backup defensive end behind Logan Hall and Calijah Kancey.

  • Buccaneers' William Gholston: Won't suit up at Packers

Gholston (knee) is out for Sunday's game at Green Bay, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Gholston will miss his first game since 2017 as he nurses a knee injury he sustained in Week 14 at Atlanta. In his place, Patrick O'Connor could see an uptick in snaps on the defensive line.
