  • Browns' Reggie Ragland: Done for Week 18

Ragland (shoulder) will not return Sunday against the Steelers, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Ragland suffered the injury in the first half, and he was unable to return for the second. In his absence, Jermaine Carter and Tae Davis will both likely see extra opportunities in the Browns' regular-season finale.

  • Browns' Reggie Ragland: Signed off Raiders' practice squad

Ragland was signed to the Browns' active roster off the Raiders' practice squad Wednesday. Ragland will replace Sione Takitaki (knee) on the active roster after Takitaki was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Ragland has yet to appear in a game this season, but he produced 67 tackles and two pass deflections while recovering a fumble over 17 games with the Giants in 2021. The 29-year-old will operate as the Browns' second option at middle linebacker behind Deion Jones moving forward.

  • Giants' Reggie Ragland: Strong day vs. Saints

Ragland notched eight tackles (four solo) during the Giants' win over New Orleans in Week 4. Ragland tallied season-high totals in terms of both tackles and defensive snaps (77 percent) in Week 4. He will look to continue building on his momentum during Sunday's divisional contest against the Cowboys.

  • Giants' Reggie Ragland: Returns to practice

Ragland (hamstring) was removed from the non-football injury list Thursday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. Ragland missed just over a week to begin camp due to his hamstring injury, but he passed his physical Thursday and appeared in practice without pads. The 2016 second-rounder will now shift his focus toward preparing for the Giants' preseason opener against the Jets on Aug. 14.

  • Giants' Reggie Ragland: Links up with G-Men

Ragland signed a one-year contract with the Giants on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. After spending three years in Kansas City and capturing a Lombardi Trophy during the 2019-2020 season, Ragland appeared in all 16 games for the Lions last year while collecting 52 tackles and a sack. The 27-year-old now takes his talent to the Meadowlands, where he will immediately compete for a starting role at the center of Patrick Graham's defense. Ragland has only whiffed on three of a possible 85 tackling opportunities the past two seasons, according to Pro Football Reference.

  • Lions' Reggie Ragland: Records 52 tackles

Ragland totaled 52 tackles, one sack, one pass breakup and one forced fumble over 16 games in 2020. While Detroit's linebacking corps was arguably the worst in football in 2020, Ragland flashed as someone who could set the edge and also put pressure on the quarterback in pass-rush situations. While he topped 50 percent of snaps in only six games, there's certainly a case to be made that Ragland should have seen more playing time as Detroit, game after game, instead tried to justify its investment in 2019 second-round pick Jahlani Tavai. In any case, Ragland seemingly did all that he could in 2020, and the unrestricted free agent shouldn't have a problem landing another contract this offseason.

  • Chiefs' Reggie Ragland: Progresses in second season

Ragland notched 86 tackles (46 solo), a half-sack and an interception during 2018. Ragland was limited to just 12 games and 323 defensive snaps as a rookie, but those numbers increased to 16 and 581, respectively, in 2018. He's still removed from the field when the defense utilizes nickel and dime packages, preventing Ragland from matching the likes of Anthony Hitchens, who totaled 945 defensive snaps. With both likely returning in 2019, prospective fantasy owners shouldn't anticipate another jump in production during Ragland's third season.

  • Chiefs' Reggie Ragland: Questionable to return

Ragland is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Raiders due to a hip injury. Ragland left the field with a hip injury during the first half. As long as the third-year pro remains sidelined, Ben Niemann will benefit from increased defensive snaps.

  • Chiefs' Reggie Ragland: Matches season-high tackles total

Ragland notched nine tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's loss to the Bills. Ragland has now posted two consecutive weeks with nine tackles and eight solos, more than doubling his total for the season over that span. If he continues his current trend, the second-year linebacker could sneak his way onto the fantasy radar as an IDP option.

  • Chiefs' Reggie Ragland: Won't play Sunday

Ragland (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, BJ Kissel of Chiefs.com reports. Ragland's debut as a Chief will have to wait until at least next Sunday after being ruled out, despite practicing in limited fashion throughout the week. Derrick Johnson and Ramik Wilson figure to start at inside linebacker with Dee Ford and Justin Houston on the outside.

  • Chiefs' Reggie Ragland: Inactive for season opener

Ragland (knee) is inactive for the Chiefs season opener against the Patriots on Thursday, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports. It comes as no surprise since he was listed a doubtful earlier this week. Ragland just arrived to Kansas City in late August and also missed his entire rookie season, so a bit of a learning curve is to be expected.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Losing ground

Ragland, who was expected to battle veteran Preston Brown for the starting middle linebacker job, has not seen any first-team snaps to this point of training camp, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. Perhaps even more worrisome is that Ragland hasn't seen significant action at the outside spots yet, as that was thought to be the fallback option for the loser of this battle. But the key IDP spot -- based on coach Sean McDermott's defenses of the past -- is the man in the middle and right now it looks like Brown has created some separation from the higher-upside but unpolished Ragland, who missed his entire rookie season due to ACL surgery.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Starts training camp behind Brown

Ragland worked with the second team during Thursday's opening night of training camp, Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports. Ragland is expected to compete with Preston Brown for the starting middle linebacker job. However, Brown's the one with experience and a history of being a tackle monger, and while Ragland has more upside, he's yet to play an NFL regular-season down. That said, the new coaching staff seems to love him, so he'll be given a chance to win the job if he can clearly outperform Brown in the new defense. It's also worth noting the loser might still get a starting spot on the outside.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Man in the middle

New coach Sean McDermott said Tuesday that Ragland (knee) will be his starting middle linebacker, BuffaloBills.com reports. "What innately comes at that position is the leadership skills. His character really possesses those leadership skills and can be the antenna of that defense," McDermott said. "In this system, it has been guys like Luke Kuechly, Jeremiah Trotter. Guys that can check the defense, get us out of bad calls. That is an important part of that position. Reggie, from what I've observed and been told, has that DNA." This is a bit of a surprise, as most would assume Preston Brown and his three seasons of 100-plus tackles would be manning the middle, whereas Ragland missed his entire rookie season due to ACL surgery. In fact, we'll need to dig into this a bit more in the coming weeks, as Brown wasn't even mentioned when McDermott was talking about his starting outside linebackers. Perhaps McDermott misspoke a bit, or he'll have enough looks with his defense that both Ragland and Brown can see the field, so we'll see how it plays out once the team starts practicing again. For now, just know that the new coach has big plans for the second-year player from Alabama.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Setting plans for 2017

Ragland, who had successful ACL surgery before his rookie season could even get off the ground, expects to be ready to play by August but still has some recovery time left, BuffaloBills.com reports. "I probably won't run for another month or so to make sure my quad is right and I'm back stronger," said Ragland. "I think we were thinking about me getting back on the field in August," he said. "I know in (June) minicamp I'll be working myself back and not rush myself into it." Ragland made a great impression all summer following his second-round selection, but that went up in smoke with a devastating training camp injury. The Bills got surprisingly good play from their substitute linebackers -- Ragland had been tabbed as a starter -- as Zach Brown put up an eye-popping 149 tackles and arguably should have made the Pro Bowl. With a new coaching staff and likely a new defense in store for the Bills, we'll see how it all shakes out. To add further question marks, both Brown and Lorenzo Alexander are unrestricted free agents.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Minor shoulder surgery

Ragland, who is on IR as he continues to recover from an August ACL knee surgery, recently had a scope performed in order to clear up a minor right shoulder injury, BuffaloBills.com reports. The shoulder is expected to be back to 100 percent well before Raglund's knee is fully healed. While the Bills have a number of players on injured reserve and a few are candidates to be the one player selected to return this season, Raglund will not be one of them. Long term, the Bills seem to love what the second-rounder brings to the table, so he could be a nice addition to an improving defense in 2017.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Officially placed on injured reserve

Ragland (knee) was placed on the Bills' injured reserve list on Tuesday. The 2016 second-rounder suffered a torn ACL during the beginning of training camp. To say the least, his loss won't go unnoticed in 2016; Ragland was a projected starter at linebacker before going down.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Initial diagnosis is partial ACL tear

An initial MRI performed on Ragland's knee has revealed what is believed to be partial ACL tear, ESPN.com's Adam Schefter reports. Schefter adds that the rookie is slated to get a second opinion on Monday that will help determine how much time Ragland will miss, but the Bills' additions of linebackers Brandon Spikes and David Hawthorne on Sunday suggest that the team is preparing for a potential long-term absence here.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Specifics on knee still unknown

Ragland, the team's second-round draft pick who injured his knee during Friday's practice, had an inconclusive MRI and will be seeing doctors again Monday for further testing, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports. Coach Rex Ryan sounded concerned in his comments Friday. This could end up being a big deal for the Bills, as first-rounder Shaq Lawson is already injured, as well as Manny Lawson. It'd be a bummer for the Bills if each of their first two picks had to miss regular season time, as both Shaq Lawson and Raglund have been plugged as immediate starters.

  • Bills' Reggie Ragland: Selected in second round

The Bills selected Ragland in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 41st overall. Ragland would have been an easy first-round pick five years or so ago, but as the NFL becomes more pass-oriented, big linebackers like Ragland have seen less demand as a result. For the Bills to get him at the 41st pick, then, has to be considered a fine value. Although the Bills signed former second-round pick Zach Brown in the offseason, Ragland should be considered the favorite to start next to Preston Brown at inside linebacker.
