Giants' Amba Etta-Tawo: Lands on IR
The Giants officially placed Etta-Tawo (Achilles) on injured reserve Tuesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
No surprise here, as Etta-Tawo suffered a torn Achilles during Monday's practice. Rather than competing for a depth receiving role with the Giants, he will now shift his attention toward his recovery and the 2020 season.

Giants' Amba Etta-Tawo: Lost for the season
Etta-Tawo suffered a torn Achilles during practice Monday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Etta-Tawo joined the Giants in July, and now appears set to head to the team's injured reserve list. He spent time with the G-Men last offseason as well and had a stint on the practice squad during the regular season. The undrafted receiver out of Syracuse was competing for a depth role in New York and will now turn his attention toward getting fully healthy.

Giants' Amba Etta-Tawo: Signs with Giants
Etta-Tawo signed a contract with the Giants on Saturday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Etta-Tawo spent time with the Giants last offseason and remained on the team's practice squad until October. He then had a brief stint on Houston's practice squad. The Syracuse product has yet to put it together at the NFL level since going undrafted in 2017, but now faces plenty of opportunity in New York with question marks surrounding Sterling Shepard (thumb), Golden Tate (suspension) and Darius Slayton (hamstring), and Corey Coleman (knee) out for the season due to a torn ACL.

Amba Etta-Tawo: Inks deal with Houston's practice squad
Etta-Tawo signed with the Texans' practice squad Wednesday.
The Syracuse product has had brief stints with the Jacksonville, Kansas City and, most recently, the New York Giants. Given his inability to breakthrough thus far, it'll be tough for Etta-Tawo to prove his role as a receiver this time around, especially with Houston's depth at the position. Perhaps his best chance to crack the active roster will come via special teams.

Etta-Tawo was released in order to create a spot on the squad for Quadree Henderson, who the Giants signed Thursday. Etta-Tawo's best chance to remain in the league would likely be to sign with another team's practice squad.

The undrafted rookie out of Syracuse has previously spent time this season with the Jacksonville and Kansas City practice squads. The Giants are lacking in quality depth at wide receiver behind No. 1 option Sterling Shepard and have Tavarres King (concussion) and Travis Rudolph (hamstring) dealing with injuries, so it's possible Etta-Tawo earns a promotion to the 53-man roster before the season ends.
