Panthers' Rashaan Melvin: Bumping up to active roster
Rotowire
The Panthers are elevating Melvin from the practice squad for Thursday's contest against the Texans, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Melvin has now reached the two-time season limit for standard elevations from the practice squad, meaning the Panthers will have to sign him to the 53-man roster if he's to log any more appearances.
Melvin has agreed to one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 30-year-old is coming off a 2019 campaign in which he recorded a career-high 68 tackles in 13 games with the Lions. The 6-foot-2, 194-pounder -- who is now slated to play for his seventh NFL team -- will add depth and experience to the Jaguars' cornerback corps this coming season.

Lions' Rashaan Melvin: New career high in tackles
Rotowire
Melvin racked up 68 tackles and 11 pass breakups over 13 games in 2019.
Playing opposite stud cornerback Darius Slay, Melvin was picked on frequently this season. This was great news from a fantasy perspective, considering it helped the 30-year-old finished the year ranked in the top five in tackles among all cornerbacks. From a real-life perspective, the Lions were probably hoping fifth-round rookie Amani Oruwariye would have taken the starting job away from the aging veteran at some point. Even though that never happened, it seems very likely that Detroit will let Melvin walk in unrestricted free agency this offseason.

Lions' Rashaan Melvin: Limited during Wednesday's practice
Rotowire
Melvin (ribs) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Melvin is hoping to avoid missing a third straight contest but being limited at Wednesday's practice indicates he could be forced to sit yet again. He'll be hoping to increase his practice reps over the next couple of days. If Melvin is unable to face the Vikings on Sunday, Amani Oruwariye will continue seeing an increased workload.

Lions' Rashaan Melvin: Won't play against Bears
Rotowire
Melvin (ribs) is ruled out for Thursday's matchup against the Bears.
Melvin popped up on the injury report last Friday, and he'll miss a second straight game due to the injury. Amani Oruwariye logged a 76-percent snap share in Melvin's stead Week 12, and the Lions will likely roll with a similar game plan in this contest.

Raiders' Rashaan Melvin: Paces team in tackles
Rotowire
Melvin registered a team-high 12 tackles (11 solo) Monday in the Raiders' 27-13 win over the Broncos.
It was a rather anomalous tackle output for the cornerback, who had recorded more than four stops on only two other occasions this season. As a result, he's probably not worth considering as an IDP option in Week 17 in Kansas City, with safeties Karl Joseph, Marcus Gilchrist and Erik Harris looking like more appealing options among the Oakland secondary players.

Raiders' Rashaan Melvin: Won't play Sunday
Rotowire
Melvin (coach's decision) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Colts, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Veteran defensive backs Rashaan Melvin and Reggie Nelson have been benched for Week 8 by coach Jon Gruden. Melvin was on the field for just seven defensive snaps during the Raiders' Week 6 loss to the Seahawks, so Gareon Conley could be in line for additional work behind Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Daryl Worley at cornerback.

Raiders' Rashaan Melvin: Finds home in Oakland
Rotowire
The Raiders and Melvin came to agreement on a one-year, $6.5 million contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Oft-injured during his five pro seasons, Melvin is coming off the healthiest stretch of his career, playing 25 games the past two years with the Colts after logging time in just 12 prior to that. He produced modest results on the field -- 96 tackles and three interceptions -- and should slot in as a starting cornerback in the Raiders defense. Expect Melvin to line up opposite 2017 first-round pick Gareon Conley.

Colts' Rashaan Melvin: Placed on IR
Rotowire
The Colts placed Melvin (hand) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Melvin has acted as the No. 1 cornerback for an injury-ravaged Colts secondary for much of the season, but he's been sidelined the past four weeks with a dislocated metatarsal on his left hand and didn't make enough progress in his recovery to gain clearance for the Week 17 matchup with the Texans. With Melvin unavailable for the season finale, Kenny Moore, Quincy Wilson and Nate Hairston should serve as the team's primary corners.

Colts' Rashaan Melvin: Ruled out for Week 15
Rotowire
Melvin (hand) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Broncos.
Melvin demonstrated some progress in his recovery from the hand injury by practicing in a limited fashion Tuesday and Wednesday, but the lack of a full session likely prevented him from gaining clearance to play on a short week. With Pierre Desir (shoulder) on injured reserve and Nate Hairston (concussion) set to join Melvin on the inactive list Thursday, the Colts could be quite vulnerable in the secondary.

Colts' Rashaan Melvin: Practicing Tuesday
Rotowire
Melvin (hand) participated in Tuesday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Melvin has missed the last two games with a dislocated metatarsal on his left hand, but his return to practice Tuesday is an encouraging sign for the defensive back on a short week. Should Melvin be able to put together another practice session on Wednesday, he could be set for a return to the field against the Broncos on Thursday.

Colts' Rashaan Melvin: Logs full practice
Rotowire
Melvin (concussion/ankle) put in a full practice Thursday.
It's believed that Melvin remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, so he'll still likely need to receive clearance from an independent neurologist before he can be considered a safe bet to play Sunday against the Texans. Aside from a two-interception game against the Browns in Week 3, Melvin has been a rather quiet IDP contributor, logging 29 tackles and forcing no other turnovers in seven contests.

Colts' Rashaan Melvin: Set to sit Sunday
Rotowire
Melvin (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Melvin was knocked out of the Week 7 matchup against the Jags early due to a concussion, and he was unable to complete the league's protocol the following week. The 28-year-old has been playing lockdown defense, breaking up 11 passes and snagging two interceptions. Without him in the lineup, either Quincy Wilson or Nate Hairston will move into the No. 2 corner role, but expect both of them to see an increased workload.

Colts' Rashaan Melvin: Two interceptions in Sunday's win
Rotowire
Melvin had two total tackles, four passes defensed and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-28 win over Cleveland.
Melvin isn't going to face a rookie quarterback every week, but he took advantage of his opportunities. Melvin has made a strong case to remain the starter even when Quincy Wilson and Vontae Davis return from injuries.
