Leonard Floyd: Being cut by San Francisco
The 49ers are slated to release Floyd, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Floyd, who tallied 8.5 sacks in 17 regular-season games (all starts) with San Francisco in 2024, will hit the free-agent market and likely generate a fair amount of interest. If designated as a post-June 1 release, the decision to cut Floyd will save the 49ers roughly $7.95 million against the cap.

Falcons' Leonard Floyd: Going to Atlanta
Floyd is slated to sign a one-year, $10 million contract with the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Floyd, who was released by the 49ers on Tuesday, quickly finds a new home with Atlanta, a team in dire need of a boost in the pass rush. The veteran edge rusher, who has tallied 8.5 or more sacks in five consecutive seasons, joins the Falcons as an immediate starter for the team.

Floyd totaled 42 tackles (25 solo), including 8.5 sacks, one pass defense and one forced fumble across 17 regular-season games in 2024.
After tying a career high in sacks (10.5) during the 2023 regular season with the Bills, Floyd opted to sign a two-year, $20 million contract with the 49ers in March of 2024. It looked like he was going to match or surpass that mark after reaching 8.5 sacks through 13 games, but he failed to record a sack over the final four games of the season. Floyd managed to play in every single regular-season game in 2024, which extended his active-game streak to 116 contests dating back to Week 1 of the 2018 season when he played for the Bears.

Floyd (shoulder) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
Floyd appeared to be in jeopardy of missing the 49ers' regular-season finale after opening the week of practice with consecutive DNPs due to a shoulder injury. However, the veteran edge rusher upgraded to full participation Friday, suggesting he's moved past the issue in time to play Sunday. Floyd has yet to miss a game this season and is expected to start opposite Nick Bosa as part of San Francisco's top defensive end duo in Week 18.

Floyd suffered a shoulder injury in Monday night's 40-34 loss to the Lions and he has now opened the week on the sidelines at the team's first practice ahead of Week 18. The linebacker will have two more chances to practice before Sunday's regular-season finale versus Arizona.

Floyd was hurt in the first half of Monday's contest and was subsequently announced as questionable to return, though he did retake the field shortly thereafter. The veteran defensive end finished the defeat having logged just 13 defensive snaps, however, which was by far his lowest mark of the season. Floyd has logged 2.0 sacks in two of the 49ers' last three games. Both of his sacks on Caleb Williams came in the first half of Sunday's game and combined for an 11-yard loss. Floyd has registered 5.5 sacks in the five games since the 49ers' Week 9 bye, and on the season he's registered 36 tackles (20 solo), including 8.5 sacks, one pass defense and one forced fumble.
