  • Browns' Tedric Thompson: Elevated for Week 15

Thompson was elevated from Cleveland's practice squad as a COVID-19 replacement ahead of Monday's game against the Raiders. With top two strong safeties Ronnie Harrison and Grant Delpit on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Thompson could play a prominent role in the Browns' secondary against Vegas. Thompson has 37 games of NFL experience under his belt, having last suited up in 2020 as a member of the Chiefs.

  • Seahawks' Tedric Thompson: Ends year on IR

Thompson (shoulder) recorded 19 tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions over six regular-season games in 2019 before landing on injured reserve in late October. Thompson entered the season as the replacement for free safety Earl Thomas, who left for the Ravens in free agency. Unfortunately, Thompson's season was cut short when he was shut down midseason after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum. Thompson, who will turn 25 years old later in January, started all six games before the injury. He's considered a ball hawk in coverage, but his aggressiveness came with some hiccups that put his starting job in jeopardy before the injury. He has one year remaining on his rookie contract, but Thompson likely won't have a starting role waiting for him in 2020, as the emergence of Quandre Diggs will likely push him to a reserve role.

  • Seahawks' Tedric Thompson: Second straight game with pick

Thompson made seven tackles (three solo) and nabbed an interception in Sunday's 32-28 win over Cleveland. It was Thompson's second consecutive game recording an interception, as he notched one of three interceptions thrown by Baker Mayfield in the game. The only negative for Thompson is that he recorded a season-low snap total, participating in just 52 of 69 plays on defense. The 24-year-old safety will draw a tough matchup against the Ravens in Week 7.

  • Seahawks' Tedric Thompson: Not playing Week 3

Thompson (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's Week 3 tilt against the Saints. The Seahawks will therefore be without their starting free safety versus the Saints, although that isn't anywhere near as daunting as it typically would be. With Drew Brees (thumb) sidelined for New Orleans, the passing game will instead be helmed by Teddy Bridgewater and/or Taysom Hill.

  • Seahawks' Tedric Thompson: Questionable for Sunday

Thompson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Saints, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. If Thompson suits up for Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, it's still unclear if he'll be the starter after Delano Hill had a solid outing in Thompson's place Week 2. Thompson's IDP value was limited anyway after he made just three tackles in the season opener.

  • Seahawks' Tedric Thompson: Officially out

Thompson (hamstring) won't play in Sunday's game against the Steelers. Thompson was considered a long-shot to play in the game anyway, so this news doesn't come as a surprise. The 2017 fourth-round pick was unable to suit up in practice leading into the game, dealing with the hamstring injury. In his stead, Delano Hill is expected to get the start at safety opposite Bradley McDougald.

Thompson (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that he expects Thompson (ankle) to be ready to play in the Seahawks' first-round playoff matchup with the Cowboys on Saturday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Thompson missed the last two games due to a lingering ankle injury, but he's on track to suit up against Dallas in the NFC wild-card round this weekend. Barring any setbacks, Thompson will draw his usual start at strong safety and relegate Akeem King back to a reserve role.

Thompson (ankle) did not practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. • Seahawks' Tedric Thompson: Injury turns out to be ribs

Coach Pete Carroll said Thompson suffered a rib injury during Friday's preseason game against the Vikings, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Carroll relayed that he wasn't sure if this injury will linger, so Thompson will likely be re-evaluated over the weekend. The 23-year-old is expected to be the starting free safety since Earl Thomas isn't budging on his holdout. If Thompson's condition is serious enough to keep him out of Week 1, however, Maurice Alexander will likely be the next man up.
