Lions' Dan Skipper: Joins Lions' coaching staff
Skipper retired from the NFL and was hired to the Lions' coaching staff as an offensive assistant Monday.
The 31-year-old appeared in 69 career regular-season games across eight NFL seasons with the Lions and Texans. He started 16 of those contests, five of which came last season with Detroit. Skipper also caught a pair of passes during his career, turning them into 13 yards and one touchdown. He'll now learn under coach Dan Campbell and new OC Drew Petzing.

Lions' Dan Skipper: Good to go against Washington
Skipper (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
Skipper has been cleared to play Sunday after working through a back injury during Week 10 prep. He has appeared in each of the Lions' last three games (including one start) and will provide depth at offensive tackle behind Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker.

Lions' Dan Skipper: Suffers ankle injury
Skipper left the locker room in a walking boot after suffering an ankle injury during Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Chargers, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
Skipper told reporters he rolled his ankle during the game. There's no timeline for his return, but he expects to know more Friday after presumably undergoing imaging.

Lions' Dan Skipper: Back with Detroit
The Lions re-signed Skipper to a one-year contract Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
A fan favorite in Detroit, Skipper appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Lions last season and made five starts. He should again fill his sixth offensive lineman role as the Lions' top backup behind starting tackles Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell.

Skipper is playing in place of the injured Taylor Decker (shoulder). Decker popped up on the injury report Thursday and missed practice Friday. Skipper has eight previous starts across 48 career games prior to Sunday night.
