Chiefs' Mike Pennel: Good to go for Week 18
Pennel (hamstring) carries no injury designation into Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Pennel suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter of the Chiefs' Christmas Day win over the Steelers and did not return. He finished this week with a full practice Friday, and barring any setbacks he'll be good to go for Sunday's regular-season finale. With the Chiefs locked in as the No. 1 seed in the AFC and resting its starters, Pennel is expected to see heavier playing time at defensive tackle in place of Chris Jones (calf).

Bears' Mike Pennel: Slated for free agency
Pennel tallied one tackle in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 26 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 17 games played.
Pennel played about 20 snaps per game in a rotational role, and his tackle total is right in line with the production he's posted in most of his nine-year career. He's only had more than 29 tackles once in his career, and that was when he had 35 with the Jets in 2017. He should find a depth role next year, as he's now an unrestricted free agent.

Bears' Mike Pennel: Heading back to Chicago
Pennel signed a contract with the Bears on Monday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Pennel previously signed a one-year contract with the Bears in June 2021 but was released with an injury settlement after landing on the team's injured reserve just before the regular season. The 31-year-old nose tackle wound up signing a one-year contract with Atlanta and registered 21 tackles over 10 games as a rotational defensive lineman. Pennel should provide much-needed depth along Chicago's interior defensive line following the loss of veterans Akiem Hicks and Bilal Nichols in free agency.
