Bears' T.J. Edwards: Still dealing with hamstring injury
Edwards (hamstring) was estimated as a non-participant on the Bears' official injury report Monday.
Chicago only held a walk-through practice Monday, but the team estimated that Edwards would have been sidelined had it been a full-speed session. He'll probably have to practice Tuesday or Wednesday to have a realistic chance of suiting up Thursday versus the Patriots.

The designation doesn't come as a surprise, given that Edwards was labelled as week-to-week due to a hamstring injury that he sustained during the Bears' Week 5 loss to the Packers. A return to practice would be a positive step for the veteran linebacker, whose next opportunity to play is Week 7 against the Patriots on Thursday. Edwards is expected to miss at least one game as a result of the hamstring injury he sustained during Sunday's game at Green Bay, so it's no big surprise he couldn't participate in Chicago's walk-through practice Wednesday. Unless he's able to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday, it's unlikely he'll suit up in Week 6 at Atlanta.

The Bears activated Edwards (calf) off the active/non-football injury list.
Edwards was only set to miss a short time due to a minor calf issue. The linebacker's return to training camp marks just a week missed. The 29-year-old should be all set to resume his spot as the primary middle linebacker for the Bears' defense. Edwards' return should minimize first-team reps for members of the linebacker corps filling in, such as Jon Rhattigan, Ruben Hyppolite or Jack Sanborn.

Edwards hurt his calf before training camp, but the injury does not appear to be severe. The starting middle linebacker fractured his leg last season, so any leg-related issues may have to do with weakness correlated to that initial incident. Edwards will miss the remainder of Chicago's postseason run due to a a fractured fibula suffered during Saturday's 31-27 wild-card win over the Packers. The loss of Edwards is particularly significant for Chicago, given that the team also placed Noah Sewell (Achilles) on IR in late December. In Edwards' stead, Amen Ogbongbemiga (concussion) may get a chance to start Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Rams, if healthy.
