  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Extension official

The Colts officially signed Jones (Achilles) to a two-year contract extension Thursday, Jones' contract not only provides an extra year of security with Indianapolis beyond the transition tag, that was initially extended to him, but it gives him a base salary of $50 million for 2026, per Brigid Kennedy of SI.com, $12.2 million above the tag amount even before including his $6 million in incentives. The 28-year-old said Wednesday on The Pat McAfee Show that he's fully recovered from the broken left fibula injury he dealt with in 2025 and that he's "making good progress with the rehab" from the right Achilles he suffered in December, as Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports. Jones said his goal is to "be back by Week 1 and ready to go," but it's far from a sure thing that he will be fully cleared for the start of the regular season, given the severe nature of his injury. Second-year quarterback Riley Leonard would be a candidate to start the year if Jones isn't ready to kick off there regular season, as Anthony Richardson (eye) is actively seeking a trade away from Indianapolis.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Finalizing two-year deal with Indy

Jones (Achilles) and the Colts are finalizing terms on a two-year, $88 million contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Indianapolis assigned Jones the one-year, $37.83 transition tag March 3 and on Monday worked out a four-year, $114 million contract extension with WR Alec Pierce. Now, as the team had hoped all along, both offensive playmakers will remain in house on long-term deals. As a necessary move to clear up cap space for both contracts, the team agreed to terms Monday on a deal that sends wideout Michael Pittman to Pittsburgh. Jones is currently working his way back from a season-ending right Achilles tear suffered Week 14 of his breakout 2025 campaign, and while it's possible he could be ready for the start of the 2026 regular season, the team may invest in backup depth beyond Riley Leonard, given that Anthony Richardson (eye) has requested a trade.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Colts want long-term deal

Indianapolis is working toward a long-term deal with Jones (Achilles), who currently is slated to play out the 2026 season on the one-year transition tag, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The Colts kicked off the NFL's legal tampering period Monday by signing impending free-agent wideout Alec Pierce to a massive four-year, $114 million contract extension, giving the team room to now fully prioritize negotiations with Jones. Indianapolis and the quarterback will have until July 15 to work out a potential multi-year extension, as after that deadline Jones will be locked into a one-year, fully guaranteed $37.83 million salary for 2026. Jones is allowed to negotiate with other teams while under the transition tag, though the Colts will retain the right to match any offers. The soon-to-be 29-year-old signal-caller was enjoying a career year as Indianapolis' starting quarterback in 2025 before suffering a season-ending right Achilles tear Week 14.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Receives transition tag

Jones (Achilles) received the transition tag from the Colts on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The transition tag allots Jones a fully guaranteed $37.83 million salary for 2026 but allows him to negotiate with other teams, though Indianapolis retains the right to match any offer sheet. Jones carries a 6-8 month recovery timeline after undergoing Achilles surgery in December, so he could be ready for the start of training camp in July. Across 13 regular-season games in 2025, Jones completed 68.0 percent of his passes for 3,101 yards and a 19:8 TD:INT while also adding 45 carries for 164 yards and five scores. The former Giant was on pace for a career year, though a fibula injury suffered in Week 10 hampered his production even prior to his Achilles tear.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Undergoes surgery on Achilles

Jones underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn right Achilles that he suffered in Week 14 against the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The recovery timeline for Jones is 6-to-8 months, which puts him in a position to be fully cleared for the start of training camp in July of 2026. Jones will hit free agency in the offseason, but Schefter relays that the Colts are expected to try and re-sign the 28-year-old quarterback. Jones ended his 2025 regular season completing 68.0 percent of his passes for 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions while turning 45 carries into 164 yards and five scores across 13 games.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Likely headed for surgery

Jones is feared to have suffered a torn right Achilles that will require surgery, but confirmation will come Monday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports. Jones suffered a non-contact lower-leg injury in the first quarter of Sunday's 36-19 loss to Jacksonville, and he is now likely slated to miss the remainder of the season as a result. The quarterback was in the midst of a resurgent campaign with Indianapolis, but it unfortunately appears headed toward a premature end. Riley Leonard replaced Jones at quarterback in Week 14, but Anthony Richardson (orbital) could be in the picture as well to start for the Colts when/if he's able to return to action.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Season-ending injury feared

Following Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Jaguars, coach Shane Steichen acknowledged that Jones right Achilles injury "could be season-ending," James Boyd of The Athletic reports. With that in mind, Steichen noted that the Colts can't confirm anything just yet, but acknowledged that it's "not looking good" for Jones, who sustained a non-contact Achilles' injury Sunday. For now, Riley Leonard is the only healthy QB on the team's active roster as next weekend's game against the Seahawks approaches.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Injures Achilles on Sunday

Jones has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against the Jaguars with an Achilles' injury. Before sustaining the injury, Jones completed five of seven passes for 60 yards and a pick and carried once for four yards. In his absence, Riley Leonard is slated to take over at QB for the Colts.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Exits with leg injury

Jones left Sunday's game at Jacksonville in the first quarter with a lower-leg injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Jones crumbled to the ground and pointed to his leg before being helped off the field. Riley Leonard replaced Jones at quarterback.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Sleeper QBs

Jones has come through in some tough matchups lately at Kansas City in Week 12 and against Houston in Week 13 with at least 20.1 Fantasy points in each outing. He's now topped 20 Fantasy points in six of his past eight games, and this is a great matchup at the Jaguars, who are No. 10 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Seven of the past nine guys against Jacksonville have scored at least 20.6 Fantasy points, and I like Jones as a low-end starter in all leagues.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Modest showing in loss

Jones completed 14 of 27 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Texans. Jones is reportedly playing through a fractured fibula, but he turned in a solid performance against one of the best pass defenses in the league. He continued to show strong rapport with Alec Pierce, as the duo connected for four gains of at least 18 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown. Jones later tallied his second score of the game on a 12-yard connection with Tyler Warren. Jones has only 399 yards combined across his last two games, though he's posted a 4:1 TD:INT heading into a far more favorable Week 14 matchup against the Jaguars.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Ready to go Sunday

Coach Shane Steichen confirmed Friday that Jones (fibula) will play Sunday against the Texans, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports. The QB officially does not carry an injury designation for the contest. Jones was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's walkthrough, but he was a full practice participant both Thursday and Friday, which paves the way for him to play through his fibula injury against the 6-5 Texans, who have won three straight games and will welcome starting signal-caller C.J. Stroud back to their starting lineup Sunday. With regard to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport's report that Jones has a fractured fibula, James Boyd of The Athletic relays that the Colts would neither confirm nor deny it. For his part, coach Shane Steichen told Boyd on Friday, "Talking to our trainers and our doctors and Daniel himself, we would never put him out there if we thought something could go wrong there," while indicating that he believes the QB's fibula can heal/improve this season even while he's still playing on it. When asked if Jones' fibula injury will limit certain parts of the Colts offense this weekend, Steichen said, "We'll manage. But again, we're not going to limit anything that we do offensively from a game-plan standpoint. ... We're ready to go. He's ready to go."

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Managing fracture in fibula, per report

Jones, who is dealing with a fracture in his fibula, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, will continue to try to play through the issue. Per the report, Jones -- who was listed as limited in Wednesday's walkthrough -- was a full participant in Thursday's session, with one source saying the QB "looked good." Meanwhile, James Boyd of The Athletic previously noted during the practice that Jones "does not look as fluid as normal," with Rapoport's report adding notable context to that observation. In any case, the QB's status now will need to be monitored as Sunday's game against the Texans approaches.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: QBs to Sit

Jones scored 20.8 Fantasy points at Kansas City in Week 12, which was a nice surprise given the matchup. Prior to that, Jones scored 17.5 Fantasy points or less in his previous two outings against the Steelers and Falcons, and I expect him to be in that range, or worse, against the Texans in Week 13. Houston is No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and the Texans just held Josh Allen to 8.1 Fantasy points in Week 12. This could be an ugly week for Jones, who is only worth starting in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Modest numbers in OT loss

Jones completed 19 of 31 passes for 181 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding three carries for 16 yards in the Colts' 23-20 overtime loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Jones was under 200 passing yards for the first time all season, but he offset the downturn with his first multi-touchdown-pass effort in the last three games. Jones connected with Michael Pittman and Drew Ogletree for scoring tosses of six and four yards, respectively, yet the majority of his success came during the first two quarters. Jones led Indianapolis to only six points after halftime, a key in the Chiefs mounting a comeback from a 20-9 deficit. The veteran signal-caller draws a tough matchup next week as well, as the Texans drop in for a key AFC South clash next Sunday.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Added to injury report Thursday

Jones was limited at practice Thursday due to a calf injury. Jones wasn't on the Colts' initial Week 12 injury report, so his addition to it Thursday is of note. That said, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com indicated that at this stage he's not sensing any reason for alarm regarding Jones. Nonetheless, what the QB is able to do at practice Friday and, in turn, what (if any) injury designation he carries ahead of Sunday's game against the Chiefs is now worth monitoring.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: QBs to Sit

Jones went into his bye in Week 11 having scored 17.5 Fantasy points or less in consecutive games against the Steelers and Falcons. He had four interceptions, three fumbles and was sacked 12 times over that span. Jones is also averaging just 18.0 Fantasy points in five games this season outside of Indianapolis. And in five home games this season, the Chiefs have done well against Jalen Hurts (11.5 Fantasy points), Lamar Jackson (12.7), Jared Goff (20.8), Geno Smith (2.8) and Marcus Mariota (13.3). Jones should only be started in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Mixed bag in overseas win

Jones completed 19 of 26 passes for 255 yards with a touchdown and an interception while adding seven carries for 53 yards in the Colts' 31-25 overtime win over the Falcons in Berlin on Sunday. He also committed three fumbles, losing one. Jones turned in one of the efficient efforts he's regularly managed in Shane Steichen's quarterback-friendly system, but ball security was a significant issue against an aggressive Falcons defense that sacked him seven times. Nevertheless, Jones persevered with the help of Jonathan Taylor's 244-yard, three-touchdown effort on the ground, while the veteran quarterback focused heavily on Tyler Warren and Alec Pierce when dropping back, and the latter was on the receiving end of Jones' one scoring toss from 37 yards out in the first quarter. Jones' one lost fumble, which came early in the third quarter, didn't lead to any Falcons points, and he'll head into the Week 11 bye ahead of a Week 12 road showdown against the Chiefs with 2,659 passing yards, 143 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Sleeper QBs

Jones snapped a four-game streak with at least 20.7 Fantasy points in Week 9 at Pittsburgh when he turned the ball over five times and scored just 16.1 Fantasy points. I'm expecting him to get back on track in Week 10 against Atlanta in Berlin, and the Falcons have allowed at least 20.4 Fantasy points in the past two games against Tua Tagovailoa and Drake Maye, who combined for six passing touchdowns. I don't think Jones will have one of his best games in this matchup, but he should be considered a low-end No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: QBs to Start

Jones comes into Week 9 having scored at least 20.7 Fantasy points in four games in a row, including three in a row with at least 26.2 points. He's playing great, and he should stay hot at Pittsburgh. The Steelers have allowed four of the past five quarterbacks to score at least 23.2 Fantasy points, including two in a row with Joe Flacco and Jordan Love, and the lone quarterback to reach that total was Dillon Gabriel in Week 6. Jones has top-10 upside in all leagues for Week 9.
