Chargers' Derwin James: Earns All-Pro honors again in 2025
James recorded four tackles (three solo) in the 16-3 wild-card loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
James technically played 16 games for a third straight campaign, but the veteran was held out of Week 18 for rest purposes. While the 28-year-old put together arguably one of his healthiest seasons of his career, he wasn't quite as impactful at least in terms of splash plays, finishing with just two sacks after averaging close to four over the past three years. The now five-time Pro Bowler made up for that by tying his career high with three interceptions en route to second-team All-Pro honors for the third time in his career. The possible departure of head coach candidate and wunderkind defensive coordinator Jessie Minter might impact Los Angeles' defense as a whole next year, but James is unquestionably one of the NFL's elites at the safety position right now.

Chargers' Derwin James: Healthy scratch Week 18
James (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
The Chargers are resting several key starters for Week 18, so James will get an extra week of rest before the wild-card round of the AFC playoffs. With Elijah Molden (hamstring) also inactive, RJ Mickens and Tony Jefferson are poised to serve as the Chargers' starting safeties for Sunday's regular-season finale. James will conclude the 2025 regular season with 94 tackles (50 solo), including 2.0 sacks, seven pass defenses (three interceptions) and one forced fumble across 16 games.

Chargers' Derwin James: Picks off Stroud in Week 17 loss
James logged eight tackles (five solo) and an interception during the Chargers' 20-16 loss to the Texans on Saturday.
James picked off a C.J. Stroud pass that was tipped near the line of scrimmage, which the Chargers offense converted into a 27-yard field goal from Cameron Dicker six plays later. It was James' third interception of the season, two of which have come over his last three games. The veteran safety is up to 94 combined tackles through 16 regular-season games, and Week 18 against the Broncos presents James the opportunity to reach the tackling century mark for the fifth time in his eight-year NFL career.

Chargers' Derwin James: Forces fumble vs. Dallas
James logged six tackles (five solo) and a forced fumble during the Chargers' 34-17 win over the Cowboys on Sunday.
James caused a turnover for a second consecutive week, when he knocked the ball out of the hands of a scrambling Joe Milton, which Tuli Tuipulotu jumped on to give the Chargers the ball at midfield. James has logged 16 combined tackles over his last two outings, and the veteran safety is up to 86 tackles (46 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and six pass defenses (two interceptions) across 15 regular-season games. He'll have two more games to reach the tackling century mark for the fifth time in his NFL career beginning this Saturday against the Texans.

James played all 61 defensive snaps for Los Angeles, and his 10 tackles were the veteran safety's second-most in a game this season. He also recorded his second interception by picking off Gardner Minshew with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Chargers. On the season, James has logged 80 tackles (41 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and six pass breakups, including the pair of interceptions, on 93 percent of the defensive snaps.

Chargers' Derwin James: Mostly quiet in win
James recorded three tackles (three solo) during Monday's 22-19 win versus the Eagles.
As has been the case for much of the year, James' contributions were felt more in coverage than on the stat sheet in Week 14, and quarterback Jalen Hurts finished the contest with four interceptions. He figures to spend plenty more time in coverage in a Week 15 matchup at Kansas City.

Chargers' Derwin James: Three stops in win
James recorded three total tackles in Sunday night's 25-10 win over the Steelers.
James didn't have to do too much in a game in which the Steelers struggled to put together much of anything on offense, and the veteran safety failed to secure a solo tackle for the second time in three games. The 29-year-old has seen his production dip as the season has gone on, averaging 4.3 tackles per game after compiling 34 takedowns over the team's first four contests of the year. James has now registered 60 total tackles (33 solo), including 1.5 sacks, while also adding three passes defensed, one of which is an interception, over 10 games this season.
