  • TJ Brunson: Gets tryout Monday

Brunson was brought in for a workout with the Bengals on Monday, Howard Balzer of SI.com reports.

Brunson is coming off a season-ending ACL tear that he suffered last August while with the Giants. The 2020 seventh-round pick played 53 special-teams snaps over five games during his rookie season before getting waived by New York this past June.

  • TJ Brunson: Waived by Giants

Brunson (knee) was waived by the Giants on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Brunson was waived Friday after he remained in a red/non-contact jersey at last month's OTAs while recovering from the torn ACL he suffered last preseason. The Giants elected to move on and he will now either revert to the team's practice squad or be released outright.

  • Giants' TJ Brunson: Limited participation in OTAs

Brunson was seen participating in the Giants' OTAs this week in a red non-contact jersey while recovering from a torn ACL, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Brunson's injury, suffered during a preseason game, forced him to miss the entirety of his second season with the Giants. The 2020 seventh-round pick played five games during his rookie season, though 53 of his 55 total snaps came on special teams, and he may have slid down the team's inside linebacker depth chart based on the observed lineups during Thursday's OTA session, according to Duggan.

  • Giants' TJ Brunson: Tears ACL, lands on IR

Brunson (knee) was placed on injured reserve by the Giants on Monday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Brunson was carted off the field during Saturday's preseason game against the Jets after injuring his knee during a blitz. The 23-year-old was selected by the Giants in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft and appeared in five games during his rookie season.

  • Giants' T.J. Brunson: Finds home in New York

The Giants selected Brunson in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 238th overall.

Brunson never really flashed the type of athleticism you'd ideally want in an inside backer, but he was a gritty and physical leader at South Carolina, registering over 100 tackles in his 2018 campaign. He'll join a bevy of linebackers drafted by the Giants in the 2020 NFL Draft.
