Long was waived by Carolina on Friday and he has now quickly found a new home in Green Bay. David Long: Waived by Carolina
Rotowire
The Panthers waived Long on Friday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Long played a season-high 92 percent of Carolina's defensive snaps against Tennessee in Week 12 and led the team with seven tackles, but his services have been deemed no longer needed with CJ Henderson having cleared concussion protocol and Shaquill Griffin claimed off waivers Thursday. Long's exit could also mean that Jaycee Horn (hamstring) is close to returning off IR after logging a trio of limited practices this week.

Panthers' David Long: Leads team with seven stops Week 12
Rotowire
Long secured seven tackles (five solo) in Sunday's loss to the Titans.
Long was called upon to start with CJ Henderson (concussion) sidelined, and he responded with a season-high seven stops. Long hadn't gotten much of an opportunity in his previous two games since joining the Panthers on Nov. 3, totaling just eight defensive snaps. It's unclear if Henderson will be able to pass the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in time to return Week 13 in Tampa Bay -- if he can't, Long could be in line for another start.

Rotowire
Long (groin) was ruled out for Sunday's Week 3 matchup with the Cardinals, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official Twitter reports.
Long will miss Sunday's contest after he showed up on the injury report Wednesday with a groin issue. Shaun Jolly was signed on Thursday and will likely step into a significant role in Week 3.

Long had a pick-six during Monday's win over the Cardinals before leaving with the knee injury, but coach Sean McVay said the cornerback is "doing good," per Brady Henderson of ESPN. Barring a setback, it appears the 23-year-old will be able to play in Sunday's playoff matchup with the Buccaneers.

Rams' David Long: Suffers knee injury
Rotowire
Long is questionable to return to Monday's wild-card matchup against Arizona after suffering a knee injury.
Long suffered the injury just before halftime and walked slowly off the field prior to having his left knee examined on the training table, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. He made his mark on the game earlier in the first half when he picked off an ill-advised Kyler Murray pass and returned it for a score. If Long is unable to return, the Rams' secondary will be very short-handed with Taylor Rapp (concussion) and Jordan Fuller (ankle) also sidelined.

Rams' David Long: Heading home to L.A.
Rotowire
The Rams selected Long in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 79th overall.
The Los Angeles native gets to head home after playing his college ball at Michigan. A two-year starter, Long earned first-team All-Big Ten honors as a junior after locking down his side of the field all year. Long's ability to stick to his man in coverage led to him having just nine passes defensed and 17 tackles, as opposing quarterbacks opted to stay away from him. He possesses 4.45 speed with a 39 1/2-inch vertical and will be a nice addition to a Los Angeles secondary that needs a succession plan at corner beyond Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.
