  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: No injury designation for opener

Bosa (knee) does not have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Rams, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Bosa was limited in Tuesday's practice as he finishes recovering from ACL surgery. The defensive end is healthy and all set to suit up for the Week 1 divisional showdown with the Rams. Bosa's last start was in Week 3 of the 2025 season against the Cardinals, when he suffered his ACL tear. He will now return to NFL games in a different country, playing the Week 1 matchup in Melbourne, Australia.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Limited in practice Tuesday

Bosa (knee) was limited in Tuesday's practice, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Bosa is nearly a full year out from ACL surgery, and defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has already said the star defensive end will play in Thursday's season opener against the Rams. Bosa has played only 17 regular-season games over the last two seasons combined, but the 28-year-old recorded 11.0 sacks in those contests.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Expected to play Week 1

San Francisco defensive coordinator Raheem Morris said Monday that Bosa (knee) will play in Thursday's Week 1 matchup against the Rams, Harrison Rich of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bosa has been continuing the rehab on his right knee after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL last September. The star edge rusher traveled with the 49ers to Melbourne, Australia ahead of Thursday's season opener, but his status had been uncertain entering the week. Morris seemed to confirm that Bosa will play while speaking to reporters in Melbourne on Tuesday (local time), saying of Bosa, "Oh, he's going out there. Whatever you want to say, he's going. He'll be there. We're not hiding that."

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Not practicing in early Monday drills

Bosa (knee) didn't participate in drills during the early portion of Monday's practice in Melbourne, Australia that was open to the media, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

While Bosa making the trip to Australia was considered encouraging in his comeback attempt from last season's ACL injury, he had been working off to the side in recent practices before the Niners left for Australia. He'll likely need to upgrade to full participation in practice by Wednesday to have a realistic chance at suiting up in Thursday's season opener versus the Rams.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Traveling with team to Australia

Bosa (knee) is making the trip to Australia and still has a chance to play in the 49ers' Week 1 matchup against the Rams in Melbourne, Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reports.

It's generally encouraging news for Bosa, whose activity has recently been ramping up in anticipation of San Francisco's regular-season opener Sept. 10. He is still working his way back onto the field after suffering a torn ACL early in the 2025 campaign, and he'll probably need to participate in some team drills before he's given the okay to suit up for game action again.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Expected to practice Wednesday

Bosa (knee) worked off to the side in Monday's practice and is expected to do the same Tuesday, with a return to fuller participation planned for Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Bosa is ramping up as the season opener looms Sept. 10 in Australia. He is working his way back from a season-ending ACL injury early in the 2025 campaign and was still dealing with soreness in August. The team will monitor how his knee holds up under increased activity, but Bosa could be back in team drills as early as Wednesday.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Progresses in recovery

Bosa's (knee) tendinitis symptoms have been subsiding recently, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.

Bosa continues to work toward a return to the field. The 49ers' defense is in desperate need of the star pass rusher's services after preseason game and joint practice failures on the defensive line. The 28-year-old is still considered week-to-week, with coach Kyle Shanahan saying Tuesday that the star is doing well. Bosa has a floor of 9.0 sacks when healthy, so the team will likely do whatever it takes to ensure he's on the field for the regular season.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Considered week-to-week

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that Bosa has missed recent practices due to soreness/tendinitis in his right knee, and the pass rusher is considered week-to-week, Noah Furtado of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bosa avoided the active/PUP list at the start of training camp, but his recovery from the torn ACL that he suffered in Week 3 of last season is ongoing. He's made three or fewer appearances in two of his pro campaigns but played between 14 and 17 regular-season contests in the other five, racking up at least 9.0 sacks in each of them while topping out at 18.5 in 2022.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Still dealing with soreness

Bosa (knee) did not participate during the 49ers' training camp practice Monday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bosa has now missed four straight training camp practices due to soreness. San Francisco will likely take a cautious approach in bringing the five-time Pro Bowler back up to full speed, given the team's financial investment in him and the fact that it already has a number of injuries to other players in the front seven.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Progressing in ACL recovery

Bosa (ACL) is doing individual work on the side at the 49ers' training camp, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reports.

Bosa apparently still isn't ready for team drills, but he continues to trend in a positive direction as training camp rolls on, drawing praise from teammate Trent Williams, per Wagoner. When healthy, he figures to be the key to a San Francisco plan to fix a pass rush that was among the worst in the league in 2025.

  • 49ers' Nick Bosa: Starts training camp off PUP

Bosa (knee) wasn't placed on the PUP list ahead of the start of San Francisco's training camp, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Bosa is seemingly progressing well from the torn ACL he suffered last September. While the 28-year-old still isn't fully healthy, he's starting to ramp up his work and should be ready for the start of the regular season.
