Lions' D.J. Reed: Working through rib injury
Reed (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Reed presumably picked up the injury during the Lions' 31-24 win over the Jets in Week 3, when he played 62 of 66 defensive snaps (93.9 percent) and finished with eight tackles (five solo) and one pass defense. He'll have two more chances to increase his practice participation to full and avoid an injury designation for Sunday's road game against the Panthers.

Reed has been battling a foot injury, but he will have the green light to suit up versus Buffalo after carrying a questionable tag heading into the contest. The 29-year-old was heavily involved in the 31-30 overtime win over the Saints in Week 1, amassing 10 total tackles and one pass defended.

Lions' D.J. Reed: Limited by injuries in 2025
Reed recorded 46 total tackles (37 solo) and seven passes defensed, including two interceptions, while also adding a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 11 contests during the 2025 regular season.
Reed was forced to miss six games with a hamstring injury in October and November, limiting his overall numbers on the season. The cornerback was able to secure multiple interceptions for the first time since 2021, while his fumble recovery was his first since that season as well. Reed inked a three-year deal with the Lions prior to the season, and he's all set to start opposite of Terrion Arnold (shoulder) again in 2026.

Reed posted eight solo tackles and two pass defenses (including an interception) during the Lions' 44-30 win over the Cowboys on Thursday.
Reed led the Lions with eight solo takedowns and tied with Avonte Maddox for the second-most combined tackles on the team behind Jack Campbell (12). Reed also logged his second interception of the season late in the fourth quarter after he beat out Ryan Flournoy on a Dak Prescott pass. Across seven regular-season games, Reed has logged 28 tackles (26 solo), six pass defenses, once forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Reed (hamstring) was activated from injured reserve Saturday and does not carry an injury designation for Week 12.
Reed was moved to injured reserve Oct. 1 after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 4 versus the Browns. His return in Week 12 will be a major boost for the Lions' secondary, as Terrion Arnold (concussion) was ruled out for Sunday. Reed recorded 16 tackles and an interception prior to his injury.
