  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Getting work Monday

Egbuka (toe) is "participating in warmups and running routes" at Monday's practice, according to Pewter Report.

Egbuka was limited to work on the side last week, and although it's not yet clear how much he will do Monday, it appears he has taken a step forward in his recovery from a toe issue. There has been hope that Egbuka will be available for Week 1, and there remains reason to believe he will be available for Tampa Bay's opener.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Stting out Tuesday's practice

Egbuka (toe) is not practicing Tuesday, per Pewter Report.

The second-year wideout is working through a toe injury that has slowed him since mid-August. Coach Todd Bowles said over the weekend that he was "hopeful" Egbuka would be available for Week 1, which is now just under two weeks away. Until Egbuka can return to the practice field, his status for Tampa Bay's season opener appears to be in limbo.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Works on side field Wednesday

Egbuka (toe) worked on a side field with trainers Wednesday and ran without any obvious issues from the injury, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Egbuka has missed a ton of practice time this summer and didn't see any preseason action. However, it sounds like he's nearing 100 percent ahead of the Bucs' Week 1 game against the Bengals in 11 days. Seeing him return to full practices next week would be a positive development. Egbuka is expected to be a big beneficiary of Mike Evans' departure over the offseason, as he'll have a chance to establish himself as the Bucs' clear WR1 ahead of veteran Chris Godwin.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: 'Hopeful' for Week 1

Egbuka (toe), per head coach Todd Bowles, will "hopefully" be ready for Week 1, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Egbuka continues working his way back from the toe injury he sustained earlier this month, and while the door is open for him to take the field in Tampa Bay's season opener, Bowles is not yet sure if he will do so. Further updates on Egbuka's status will come, but perhaps not officially until the Buccaneers begin to release injury reports.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Focus remains on Week 1

Egbuka (toe) continues to rest and recover with the goal of being ready for Week 1, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Egbuka, per the report, made the trip to Jacksonville with his teammates for Friday's preseason finale, but he will not suit up and will instead keep working on his recovery from the toe injury he sustained a little over two weeks ago. It's not yet known when Egbuka will be back on the field, so his availability remains up in the air in advance of his team's season-opening matchup with the Bengals on Sept. 13.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Remains sidelined by toe issue

Egbuka (toe) isn't participating in Tuesday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Egbuka has been managing a sprained toe since Aug. 12, when the injury forced him out of practice. Almost two weeks later, the wideout has yet to return to team drills, with head coach Todd Bowles having previously described him as both "day-to-day" and "week-to-week." Egbuka looks safe to rule out for Friday's preseason finale versus the Jaguars, and his availability for the Buccaneers' Week 1 matchup with the Bengals will be murky until he's able to return to full practice.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Considered 'day-to-day, week-to-week'

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Egbuka (toe) is "day-to-day, week-to-week" and was non-committal regarding the wideout's status for the Sept. 13 season opener versus the Bengals, Evan Closky of 10 Tampa Bay reports.

Egbuka remained sidelined for practice Monday after suffering a sprained toe last Wednesday in a joint session with the Jets. While the Buccaneers had previously spoke more optimistically about Egbuka's status for Week 1, Bowles was more hesitant during his most recent media session to speculate on the second-year receiver's availability for the start of the regular season. Along with Egbuka, Jalen McMillan (knee) was also a spectator at practice Monday, with Bowles referring to the latter wideout as day-to-day, per PewterReport.com.

  • Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka: Optimism for Week 1 status

Egbuka had more tests done on his injured toe Friday, which confirmed a sprain that's stable, and the Buccaneers are optimistic that the second-year wide receiver will be available Week 1 at Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 13, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Egbuka was rolled up on by a teammate at Wednesday's practice and limped off the field, but at the time, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported that the issue was deemed to be minor. Friday's testing corroborated that belief, and Egbuka now will focus on getting healthy for Tampa Bay's regular-season opener. Once Egbuka is back to 100 percent, he's expected to lead a WR group composed of Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan (knee) and rookie third-rounder Ted Hurst.
