49ers' De'Zhaun Stribling: Officially placed on IR
The 49ers placed Stribling (ankle) on injured reserve Saturday.
Stribling suffered what appeared to be a serious non-contact injury during the 49ers' Week 1 win against the Rams in Melbourne, Australia, but afterward tests revealed that his left Achilles was intact, and eventually he was diagnosed with a deltoid sprain of his left ankle. After undergoing surgery, he's expected to miss roughly 10 weeks, meaning a move to IR was inevitable. At least during the initial weeks of Stribling's absence, Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing, Jordan Watkins and KhaDarel Hodge will handle WR duties for San Francisco.

The 49ers are expected to place Stribling (ankle) on injured reserve, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.
Stribling wasn't able to return to the 49ers' Week 1 win against the Rams in Melbourne, Australia, after appearing to pick up a non-contact injury to his lower left leg. He eventually was diagnosed with an ankle injury after his Achilles was shown to be intact, but he'll need some time on the sideline. Once he's on IR, Stribling will be required to miss at least the next four games, meaning his next chance for game action would be Monday, Oct. 19, versus the Commanders.

Stribling underwent ankle surgery Wednesday and is expected to miss 10 weeks, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The 49ers have been expected to place Stribling on injured reserve, and now there's a firmer timeline for his return. It appears the talented rookie will miss the bulk of the season and be sidelined until close to Thanksgiving. The team is dealing with a bevy of injuries to its pass-catching group, as Christian Kirk (calf) is on short-term IR and Ricky Pearsall (knee) is out for the year. The team promoted KhaDarel Hodge from the practice squad Wednesday for added depth. Demarcus Robinson and Jacob Cowing also project to see role increases in the interim.

49ers' De'Zhaun Stribling: Likely out at least one month
Stribling (ankle) is expected to miss at least one month after he was diagnosed Sunday with a deltoid sprain of his left ankle, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Stribling saw plenty of playing time early in his NFL debut during Thursday's 27-7 win over the Rams, drawing no targets but taking the field for 21 of the team's first 26 offensive snaps before going down with an injury. Initial tests ruled out an Achilles injury for Stribling, but the second-round rookie will still require some down time as a result of the ankle sprain. According to Rapoport, Stribling is seeking multiple medical opinions on his injury, and while surgery isn't yet planned, the 49ers haven't dismissed the possibility of the wideout needing an operation. The 49ers will likely hold off on placing Stribling on injured reserve until a decision is made on a treatment plan.

Stribling briefly exited Thursday's game in the first quarter with a left ankle injury but was quickly cleared to return after being checked out in the blue medical tent. However, on the next drive, Stribling crumpled to the ground while running a route and had to be assisted off the field by the training staff before being carted to the locker room. He's now done for the night Thursday, having recorded zero targets. Demarcus Robinson is operating as the Niners' WR3 behind Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel.

Stribling (ankle) avoided an Achilles injury Thursday against the Rams after initial tests revealed his Achilles is intact, James Palmer of The Athletic reports.
After suffering his ankle injury in the first quarter Thursday against the Rams, Stribling came back in the game in the second quarter and abruptly left again after he fell to the ground in pain while running a route. While he's avoided an Achilles injury, Stribling's ankle issue did look to be pretty serious after he had to be helped off the field and then carted to the locker room. The good news is the 49ers have 10 days before their next game. Stribling will undergo further testing to determine the extent of the injury.

Stribling spent a brief amount of time in the medical tent on the 49ers' sideline but was quickly cleared to return to the game. Stribling was slowed by a shoulder injury for a couple weeks, but it apparently is no longer an issue, as he did not draw a mention on the first injury report the 49ers put out in advance of Week 1. Stribling is listed as a reserve receiver behind veterans Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel on San Francisco's unofficial depth chart, so while it appears he will debut against the Rams in Australia it's unclear exactly what role he will have.

Stribling (shoulder) is in full uniform for Monday's practice in Melbourne, Australia, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
The practice session is technically taking placing Tuesday afternoon in Melbourne local time, but regardless, Stribling's participation is a positive sign as he looks to rebound from a minor shoulder injury. It remains to be seen what the rookie wideout's level of practice participation will be, but to this point there hasn't been any indication that he's in any danger of missing the season opener versus the Rams. Stribling appears in line for a big role in San Francisco's offense as one of the team's top three wideouts alongside veterans Mike Evans (adductor) and Deebo Samuel.
