  • Salvon Ahmed: Gets injury waiver

Miami released Ahmed (undisclosed) with an injury waiver Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. The detail of the injury waiver is significant, as it means Ahmed is technically eligible to return at some point during the 2024 season if he can work through his health issues. For now, his departure could open up practice reps for the just-signed Anthony McFarland.

  • Salvon Ahmed: Released by Miami

The Dolphins released Ahmed (undisclosed) on Monday, per the team's official site. Ahmed has played all 38 games of his career with Miami since going undrafted out of Washington back in 2020, so it's somewhat surprising to see him now be cut by the team. In corresponding moves, the Dolphins added running backs Anthony McFarland and Zander Horvath on Monday.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Activated off NFI list

The Dolphins activated Ahmed (foot) off the active/non-football injury list Tuesday. Ahmed is seemingly healthy once again after spending less than a week on the NFI list. The 25-year-old will now spend the summer competing with Jeff Wilson and Chris Brooks for a roster spot.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Moves to NFI list

The Dolphins placed Ahmed (foot) on the active/non-football injury list Thursday. Ahmed, who re-signed with Miami on a one-year contract early this offseason, will begin training camp on the NFI list. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that Ahmed's placement on the NFI list is due to a minor medical issue, one unrelated to the season-ending foot injury he sustained last November. He can be activated at any time during training camp or the preseason, once cleared to practice.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Done for season

Ahmed (foot) is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Ahmed suffered a foot injury this past week and was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, but it now appears the injury is a season-ending one. With De'Von Achane (knee) banged up, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson could operate as the team's primary options in the backfield Friday versus the Jets.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Goes to IR

Miami placed Ahmed (foot) on its injured reserve list Tuesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. It's not immediately clear when Ahmed sustained the foot injury, but it's apparently severe enough to keep him off the field for at least the Dolphins' next four games. Until he's ready to come back, Jeff Wilson is likely to see more work between the tackles.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Scores in win over Raiders

Ahmed carried the ball three times for six yards during Sunday's 20-13 win over Las Vegas. He also secured all three of his targets for 25 yards and one touchdown. Ahmed benefited from extra work behind Raheem Mostert after De'Von Achane (knee), who was playing in his first game back from IR, exited early. It remains to be seen whether Achane will be available for a Black Friday divisional matchup against the Jets, but if the rookie ends up missing more time, Ahmed will likely handle an increased role again. Jeff Wilson could also be active if Achane isn't available.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Remains involved in loss to Chiefs

Ahmed carried the ball three times for four yards during Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Chiefs. He also secured two of three targets for eight yards. Ahmed saw a similar workload to Jeff Wilson during Sunday's loss in Frankfurt, while both worked behind starter Raheem Mostert. Only Mostert was able to get anything going versus Kansas City's formidable defense, however, and with De'Von Achane (knee) potentially coming off IR for Week 11, after Miami's bye, Ahmed's opportunities could quickly diminish.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

The Dolphins didn't activate Jeff Wilson (ribs) off IR in Week 6, and Christopher Brooks (ankle) was hurt against Carolina. With De'Von Achane (knee) on IR, Ahmed could be the No. 2 running back for the Dolphins in tandem with Raheem Mostert in Week 7 at Philadelphia. We hope to see Wilson get activated prior to that game, but Ahmed is a good running back to speculate on in case Wilson remains out. Add Ahmed for 1 percent of your FAB.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Scores vs. Panthers

Ahmed carried the ball six times for 23 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 42-21 win over Carolina. Ahmed worked behind Raheem Mostert (115 rushing yards and three total TDs) during Sunday's blowout win over the Panthers, though Chris Brooks (ankle) also handled six carries before being forced out during the fourth quarter. It looks probably Jeff Wilson (ribs) will healthy enough to make his season debut Week 8 against Philadelphia, though, and if operating at 100 percent, he would stand to work ahead of Ahmed as a complement to Mostert.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Healthy scratch against Giants

Ahmed (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants. Ahmed has seen his role diminish both on offense and special teams since the start of the season. A groin injury sidelined him in Week 3, but it now appears that Chris Brooks has moved ahead of him on the depth chart.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: No touches Week 4

Ahmed did not handle a carry during Sunday's 48-20 loss to the Bills. Ahmed, in his return from a groin injury that forced him to sit out Week 3, played just one offensive snap during Sunday's divisional loss and did not record a touch. Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane appear to have established themselves as the clear top options in Miami's backfield, so Ahmed will remain off the fantasy radar heading into the Dolphins' matchup against the Giants in Week 5.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Suits up Sunday

Ahmed (groin) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills. Ahmed missed the Dolphins' 70-20 win over the Broncos in Week 3, but he'll be back in uniform Sunday. That said, Ahmed figures to work in a complementary role in his return, with Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane - who both racked up big numbers versus Denver - on track to continue to lead the team's backfield in Week 4.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Questionable against Buffalo

Ahmed (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports. After missing the 70-20 win over the Broncos in Week 3, Ahmed was a limited participant in all three of Miami's practices throughout Week 4. If he suits up Sunday, Ahmed will likely be relegated to a third-string role behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, both of whom scored four touchdowns in Ahmed's absence against Denver.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Limited to start week

Ahmed (groin) was listed as a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Ahmed's limited participation was expected after head coach Mike McDaniel said earlier Wednesday that the running back would take part in some drills. While Ahmed is progressing in his recovery from a groin injury that kept him sidelined in Week 3, the Dolphins have little reason to rush him back for Sunday's game against the Bills after Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane combined for eight touchdowns in Miami's 70-20 romp over the Broncos.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Missing first two Week 3 practices

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Ahmed (groin) won't practice Wednesday or Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. McDaniel didn't rule Ahmed out for Sunday's game against Denver but also didn't exactly sound optimistic about Ahmed's chances of suiting up this weekend while noting that rookie running back De'Von Achane is ready for a role in the offense. Ahmed exited early during the Week 2 win over New England in which starting back Raheem Mostert rumbled for 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Ahmed's groin injury could open the door for Achane to settle in as the No. 2 option on a more permanent basis, albeit with the potential complicating factor of Jeff Wilson (abdomen) coming off injured reserve at some point after Week 4. None of Ahmed, Achane or Wilson holds much fantasy value with Mostert healthy, but history suggests the 31-year-old won't last an entire season taking double-digit carries each week.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Managing groin issue

Ahmed is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Patriots due to a groin injury. Ahmed put together a relatively productive first half prior to exiting with his injury in the second quarter, as he rushed three times for 13 yards while securing all three of his targets for 28 yards. It's unclear whether he'll be available during the second half, but De'Von Achane could see increased playing time if Ahmed can't return.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Effective through air in finale

Ahmed handled five carries for three yards during the Dolphins' 34-31 wild-card playoff loss to the Bills. He also secured three of five targets for 45 yards. Ahmed saw slightly increased utilization during Miami's playoff loss with Raheem Mostert (thumb) unable to go. Through 12 regular-season appearances in 2022, Ahmed handled a total of 12 carries for 64 yards and one touchdown, while securing his only target for eight yards. The 24-year-old is set to be a restricted free agent this offseason.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Quiet in regular-season finale

Ahmed took his only carry for seven yards during Sunday's 11-6 win over the Jets. Ahmed handled his usual rotational role Week 18, but depending on the status of Raheem Mostert (finger) coming off a fractured thumb, Ahmed could be in line for increased opportunities during the wild-card playoff matchup against the Bills. The Dolphins will be without Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) in Buffalo, so the team could lean more on the running game than usual.

  • Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Productive in complementary role

Ahmed rushed six times for 43 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 32-29 loss to the Bills on Saturday night. Ahmed saw an elevated role with Jeff Wilson (hip) sidelined, and he ultimately logged one more carry than he had all season combined. Ahmed made good use of the rare opportunity, scoring on an 11-yard run late in the first half to bring the Dolphins to within a point. Despite the encouraging results Saturday, it's difficult to envision Ahmed getting more than just a handful of snaps if Wilson is back for the Week 16 Christmas Day home clash against the Packers, although his performance could ensure he and not Myles Gaskin garners active status for that contest as the No. 3 running back.
