  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Shines early in Week 2 win

Godwin caught seven of eight targets for 117 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Lions. Godwin accounted for Baker Mayfield's first seven completions, including a 41-yard touchdown catch. Tampa Bay's passing game slowed down after that, as Mayfield finished with only 185 yards, but the Buccaneers hung on for the win. Godwin has already equaled last season's total of two touchdown catches while racking up exactly 200 receiving yards heading into Week 3 against the Broncos.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: WRs to Start

It was vintage Godwin in Week 1 against Washington with eight catches for 83 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, and he should have the chance for another big game in Week 2 at Detroit. Last year in Week 6 against the Lions, Godwin had six catches for 77 yards on seven targets, but I expect him to do even better in this matchup. Detroit just allowed Cooper Kupp and Tyler Johnson to score at least 12.9 PPR points in Week 1, and Godwin and Mike Evans should exploit the Lions defense in what should be a high-scoring affair.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: WRs to Start

We get to see Godwin back in the slot, and hopefully he can challenge Mike Evans to lead Tampa Bay in targets this year. Both receivers should go off in this matchup with the Commanders at home, and last year Washington was No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. No team allowed more touchdowns to opposing receivers than the Commanders with 29, so hopefully Godwin and Evans can both find the end zone in Week 1.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: One catch in preseason finale

Godwin caught his only target for nine yards in Friday's 24-14 preseason win over the Dolphins. Tampa Bay's starting offense (sans the resting Mike Evans) played the opening drive, and Godwin caught one of Baker Mayfield's three completions. Godwin has topped 1,000 receiving yards in four of the past five regular seasons, and the 28-year-old wide receiver is expected to play a key role in the passing attack once again when the games start to count Sept. 8 against the Commanders.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Not expected to play

Godwin and most other starters aren't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against Jacksonville, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Coach Todd Bowles didn't specifically name Godwin, but Bowles did say QB Baker Mayfield won't play and suggested the approach will be similar to that from Tampa's preseason opener (in which Mayfield, Godwin and many others were held out). Bowles told Stroud last week that he's leaning toward playing more starters in the third and final preseason game.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Standing out early in camp

Godwin has impressed over the first few practices of training camp and has caught the eye of fellow star wideout Mike Evans, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. "He's going to have a great year," said Evans of Godwin. "Y'all saw him today - he looks like he's in midseason form. He's making plays, going deep, looks like the 2019 Chris Godwin." Godwin has battled injuries and underutilization in the red zone over the last few seasons, but he's still turned three consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. However, the 2017 third-round pick has just 10 touchdowns on 285 receptions in that span, the fewest scoring grabs of any player with at least 200 catches during that period. Evans himself has called for the Buccaneers to give Godwin more red-zone and downfield opportunities, and with new offensive coordinator Liam Coen now at the helm, there may be a change in how the veteran wideout is deployed.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Bucs running it back on offense

Godwin will benefit from offensive stability with Tampa Bay slated to re-sign quarterback Baker Mayfield to a three-year, $100 million contract and Mike Evans having returned via a two-year, $52 million contract, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Godwin at one point looked like he'd have to adapt to another change under center while potentially also having to line up with Evans elsewhere for the first time in his career, but the Buccaneers' early offseason moves instead have secured impressive offensive stability. The retention of both Mayfield and Evans should provide fantasy managers real confidence that Godwin's involvement on offense will remain effective and core to Tampa Bay's game plan, especially with new offensive coordinator Liam Coen having stated that he envisions the 28-year-old wideout moving back to the slot. Godwin has put together three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving campaigns, and it's possible the passing game could take a real step forward in 2024 with Mayfield more comfortable in Year 2.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Likely returning to slot

New Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen said Tuesday that he anticipates moving Godwin back inside to the slot, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Godwin took 32 percent of his snaps from the slot in 2023, down from 60 percent the previous year and 53 percent in 2021. His volume didn't suffer too much (130 targets), but his catch rate plunged to 63.8 percent after four straight years above 71 percent, and he finished with his lowest per-game averages for receptions (4.9) and receiving yards (60.2) since 2018 -- which was also the last time his slot rate dipped below 49 percent. While perfectly capable on the perimeter, Godwin is probably at his best inside. The shift to more outside work last season apparently stemmed from the Bucs' belief that it might help keep him healthy, and while Godwin did in fact play every game for the first time since 2018, he's nonetheless expected to man the slot more often with the team shifting from Dave Canales to Coen as offensive coordinator. It sounds like a good thing for his fantasy value, especially given that Godwin also gets a lot of playing time in two-wideout formations, unlike many other slot guys.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Four receptions in playoff defeat

Godwin brought in four of eight targets for 40 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions on Sunday. The veteran wideout couldn't shake loose for any big gains against the Lions' inconsistent secondary, but he still finished third in receptions and receiving yards while tying for second in targets. Godwin's final line was fairly representative of his final month's worth of games, as he topped out at six receptions and 81 yards in terms of single-game highs over the last four contests. However, Godwin did post an impressive 83-1,024-2 line across 17 regular-season contests. He is slated to draw a robust $20 million base salary and count $27.5 million overall against the team's cap in 2024.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Clear for divisional round

Godwin (knee/personal) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game at Detroit. The Buccaneers kept close tabs on Godwin's on-field work this week, holding him out of Wednesday's walkthrough before capping his reps at Thursday's walkthrough due to a knee injury. He then missed practice entirely Friday because of a personal issue, but neither concern will impact his availability for the Buccaneers' second contest of this postseason. Back in Week 6, Godwin hauled in six of seven targets for 77 yards against the Lions in a 20-6 loss.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Limited in Thursday's walkthrough

Godwin (knee) was limited at Thursday's walkthrough. Godwin had practice restrictions due to a knee issue back in Weeks 15 and 16, and his day off last Friday also was attributed to a knee concern. At Wednesday's walkthrough, he logged no activity for the same reason, but his ability to get back on the field one day later seems to imply he's trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's divisional-round game at Detroit. In the end, Friday's practice report will unveil whether or not Godwin enters the weekend with a designation.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Sits out walk-through practice

Godwin (knee) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. During the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card win over the Eagles on Monday, Godwin logged 51 of 70 snaps on offense en route to catching four of his five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown. Now that the wideout is opening the week as a non-participant in practice, however, his status is worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Lions.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Caps win with touchdown

Godwin brought in four of five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card win over the Eagles on Monday night. Godwin had a relatively quiet night until the latter portion of the fourth quarter, when he put the Buccaneers' final points of the night on the board with a 23-yard touchdown grab. He now has at least four receptions in five of the last six games and has scored twice in the last three, giving him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Sunday afternoon divisional-round battle against the Lions that could feature plenty of passing.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Paces pass catchers in win

Godwin brought in six of seven targets for 51 yards and rushed once for four yards in the Buccaneers' 9-0 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Godwin led the Buccaneers in receptions and receiving yards on a quiet day for the air attack. The veteran wideout finished the regular season on a high note, recording at least six receptions in three of the last four games and posting over 50 receiving yards in each of the final five contests of the regular season. Godwin also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the third straight campaign and fourth time in the last five years with Sunday's production, and he'll draw a favorable matchup to open the postseason against the Eagles' shaky secondary in a home wild-card matchup next weekend.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Scores impressive TD in loss

Godwin brought in three of five targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 23-13 loss to the Saints on Sunday. Godwin checked in second in receiving yards for the Bucs on the afternoon, getting to that total with an impressive 47-yard touchdown grab with 1:37 remaining. Godwin now has at least 78 receiving yards in three straight contests, and with Sunday's production, he heads into the Week 18 regular-season finale just 27 yards short of his third consecutive 1,000-yard season.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: WRs to Start

Godwin, finally, has become a go-to guy for Baker Mayfield with at least 11 targets in three games in a row. Godwin has responded with at least 13.9 PPR points in each of his past two outings against the Packers and Jaguars, and he should have another productive performance against the Saints in Week 17. One of Godwin's best games of the season actually came at New Orleans in Week 4 when he had eight catches for 114 yards on 11 targets for 19.4 PPR points, but Mike Evans left that game with a hamstring injury. Godwin also has scored at least 14.3 PPR points against the Saints in three of his past four meetings.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Another impressive showing in win

Godwin brought in six of 11 targets for 78 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-12 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also rushed once for one yard. Godwin led the Buccaneers in targets while checking in tied for second in receptions and as the sole runner-up in receiving yards. The veteran wideout has been the subject of plenty of Baker Mayfield's attention during the last two games, which arguably have been the quarterback's best yet this season. In that span, Godwin has hauled in 16 of his 23 targets for 233 yards, his most productive two-game stretch of the season by far. He'll look to carry the momentum over into a Week 17 home divisional clash against a stingy Saints secondary.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Good to go

Godwin (knee) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin had season highs for catches (10) and receiving yards (155) while playing through the same injury during last week's 34-20 win over the Packers. He's now avoided an injury designation altogether, following last week's 'questionable' tag, with a full practice Friday confirming his knee issue isn't a serious problem.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Returns to practice

Godwin (knee) returned to practice Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin played through the same injury last week after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, ultimately catching 10 of 12 targets for a season-high 155 yards in a 34-20 win over the Packers. He should be fine to play at Jacksonville on Sunday, especially after missing just one practice (Thursday) this week.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Doesn't practice Thursday

Godwin (knee) officially didn't practice Thursday. After opening Week 16 prep with a limited session Wednesday, Godwin's absence from the field one day later was forecast by the fact he wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of the practice, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Thus, Godwin's listing on Friday's injury report should be telling for his upcoming availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He was able to play through the knee issue Week 15 in Green Bay, where he turned 12 targets into 10 catches for 155 yards.
