The Saints signed Davis to a contract Wednesday.
Davis tried out with the Saints on Tuesday. The cornerback clearly impressed the team and will likely play in Friday's preseason finale against the Cowboys. It is unclear if Davis has any real shot at the 53-man roster, but the 29-year-old will likely at least be with the organization until Sunday.

Michael Davis: Tryout with New Orleans
The Saints hosted Davis for a tryout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Davis ended the 2025 season in early January when he was placed on injured reserve for a shoulder issue. The 29-year-old finished the 2025 campaign with four tackles (two solo) over 11 regular-season contests. The cornerback is now healthy and ready to rejoin the Saints for another season if he can.

Davis (shoulder) was placed on the injured reserve list Friday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The 29-year-old from BYU sustained a shoulder injury in the Week 17 win over the Titans and didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so it's no surprise he's shifted to IR. Davis finished his 2025 campaign with four total tackles across 11 appearances while primarily contributing on special teams (eight snaps on defense, 113 on special teams).

Saints' Michael Davis: Signs with New Orleans
Davis signed with the Saints on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis had options, according to Garafolo, as he initially agreed to sign with New Orleans' practice squad before the Lions called to sign him to the active roster. Instead, he's sticking with the Saints and joining the 53-man roster. Davis has 122 career regular-season games under his belt and appeared in 15 with the Commanders last season.
